With the eastwindYou breakthe shipsof Tarshish.
For a righteousmanfallsseventimes,and risesagain, But the wickedstumblein [time of] calamity.
"Therefore I will scatterthem like driftingstrawTo the desertwind.
Who sayto a tree,'You are my father,'And to a stone,'You gaveme birth.'For they have turned[their] backto Me, And not [their] face;But in the timeof their troublethey will say,'Ariseand saveus.'
"They have turned[their] backto Me and not [their] face;though [I] taughtthem, teachingagainand again,they would not listenand receiveinstruction.
"Alsoher mercenariesin her midstAre like fattenedcalves,For eventhey toohave turnedback[and] have fledaway together;They did not stand[their ground]. For the dayof their calamityhas comeupon them, The timeof their punishment.
"Your rowershave broughtyou Into greatwaters;The eastwindhas brokenyou In the heartof the seas.
I will also turnMy facefrom them, and they will profaneMy secretplace;then robberswill enterand profaneit.
Thoughhe flourishesamongthe reeds,An eastwindwill come,The windof the LORDcomingup from the wilderness;And his fountainwill becomedryAnd his springwill be driedup; It will plunder[his] treasuryof everypreciousarticle.
"The LORDshall causeyou to be defeatedbeforeyour enemies;you will goout onewayagainstthem, but you will fleesevenwaysbeforethem, and you will be [an example of] terrorto allthe kingdomsof the earth.
"Moreover, the LORDwill scatteryou among allpeoples,from one endof the earthto the other endof the earth;and thereyou shall serveothergods,woodand stone,whichyou or your fathershave not known.
"Then My angerwill be kindledagainst them in that day,and I will forsakethem and hideMy facefrom them, and they will be consumed,and manyevilsand troubleswill comeupon them; so that they will sayin that day,Is it not becauseour Godis not amongus that theseevilshave comeupon us?'
Vengeanceis Mine, and retribution,In due timetheir footwill slip;For the dayof their calamityis near,And the impendingthingsare hasteningupon them.'
