When they cameto the threshingfloorof Atad,whichis beyondthe Jordan,they lamentedtherewith a verygreatand sorrowfullamentation;and he observedsevendaysmourningfor his father.
So Esauborea grudgeagainstJacobbecauseof the blessingwith whichhis fatherhad blessedhim; and Esausaidto himself,"The daysof mourningfor my fatherare near;then I will killmy brotherJacob."
Now when the inhabitantsof the land,the Canaanites,sawthe mourningat the threshingfloorof Atad,they said,"Thisis a grievousmourningfor the Egyptians."Thereforeit was namedAbel-mizraim,whichis beyondthe Jordan.
Now fortydayswere requiredfor it, for suchis the periodrequiredfor embalming.And the Egyptiansweptfor him seventydays.
When the daysof mourningfor him were past,Josephspoketo the householdof Pharaoh,saying,"IfnowI have foundfavorin your sight,pleasespeakto Pharaoh,saying,

allthe valiantmenaroseand tookaway the bodyof Sauland the bodiesof his sonsand broughtthem to Jabesh,and they buriedtheir bonesunderthe oakin Jabesh,and fastedsevendays.
Then they satdownon the groundwith him for sevendaysand sevennightswith noonespeakinga wordto him, for they sawthat [his] painwas verygreat.
Furthermore,men are afraidof a highplace and of terrorson the road;the almondtreeblossoms,the grasshopperdragshimself along, and the caperberryis ineffective.For mangoesto his eternalhomewhile mournersgoaboutin the street.
The one who touchesthe corpseof anypersonshall be uncleanfor sevendays.
When allthe congregationsawthat Aaronhad died,allthe houseof Israelweptfor Aaronthirtydays.
[Some] devoutmenburiedStephen,and madeloudlamentationoverhim.
Theseare the wordswhichMosesspoketo allIsraelacrossthe Jordanin the wilderness,in the ArabahoppositeSuph,betweenParanand Topheland Labanand Hazerothand Dizahab.
So the sonsof Israelweptfor Mosesin the plainsof Moabthirtydays;then the daysof weeping[and] mourningfor Mosescameto an end.
They tooktheir bonesand buriedthem underthe tamarisktreeat Jabesh,and fastedsevendays.
