IfI have lookedat the sunwhenit shoneOr the moongoingin splendor,
When the morningstarssangtogetherAnd allthe sonsof Godshoutedfor joy?
PraiseHim, sunand moon;PraiseHim, allstarsof light!
Let them praisethe nameof the LORD,For He commandedand they were created.
Its risingis from one endof the heavens,And its circuitto the other endof them; And thereis nothinghiddenfrom its heat.
Yours is the day,Yours alsois the night;You have preparedthe lightand the sun.
WhenI considerYour heavens,the workof Your fingers,The moonand the stars,whichYou have ordained;
For the starsof heavenand their constellationsWill not flashforththeir light;The sunwill be darkwhen it risesAnd the moonwill not shedits light.
Then the moonwill be abashedand the sunashamed,For the LORDof hostswill reignon MountZionand in Jerusalem,And [His] glorywill be beforeHis elders.
Liftup your eyeson highAnd seewhohas createdthese[stars], The One who leadsforththeir hostby number,He callsthem allby name;Becauseof the greatnessof His mightand the strengthof [His] power,Not one[of them] is missing.
The One forminglightand creatingdarkness,Causingwell-beingand creatingcalamity;I am the LORDwho doesallthese.
Thussaysthe LORD,Who givesthe sunfor lightby dayAnd the fixedorderof the moonand the starsfor lightby night,Who stirsup the seaso that its wavesroar;The LORDof hostsis His name:
Sun[and] moonstoodin their places;They wentaway at the lightof Your arrows,At the radianceof Your gleamingspear.
"But immediatelyafterthe tribulationof thosedaysTHE SUNWILL BE DARKENED,AND THE MOONWILL NOT GIVEITS LIGHT,AND THE STARSWILL FALLfrom the sky,and the powersof the heavenswill be shaken.
Nowfrom the sixthhourdarknessfellupon allthe landuntilthe ninthhour.
There is onegloryof the sun,and anothergloryof the moon,and anothergloryof the stars;for stardiffersfrom starin glory.
"And [beware] not to liftup your eyesto heavenand seethe sunand the moonand the stars,allthe hostof heaven,and be drawnawayand worshipthem and servethem, those whichthe LORDyour Godhas allottedto allthe peoplesunderthe wholeheaven.
And the cityhasnoneedof the sunorof the moonto shineon it, for the gloryof Godhas illuminedit, and its lamp[is] the Lamb.
