Now when Joshuaheardthe soundof the peopleas they shouted,he saidto Moses,"There is a soundof warin the camp."
Nonhis sonand Joshuahis son.
"As oftenas the trumpet[sounds] he says,'Aha!'And he scentsthe battlefrom afar,And the thunderof the captainsand the warcry.
O clapyour hands,allpeoples;Shoutto Godwith the voiceof joy.
So Mosessaidto Joshua,"Choosemenfor us and goout, fightagainst Amalek.TomorrowI will stationmyselfon the topof the hillwith the staffof Godin my hand."
So Mosesarosewith Joshuahis servant,and Moseswentup to the mountainof God.
The tabletswere God'swork,and the writingwas God'swritingengravedon the tablets.
But he said,"It is not the soundof the cryof triumph,Noris it the soundof the cryof defeat;But the soundof singingI hear."
So the nextdaythey roseearlyand offeredburntofferings,and broughtpeaceofferings;and the peoplesatdownto eatand to drink,and roseup to play.
The LORDof hostshas swornby Himself:"SurelyI will fillyou with a populationlike locusts,And they will cryout with shoutsof victory overyou."
"So I will kindlea fireon the wallof RabbahAnd it will consumeher citadelsAmid warcrieson the dayof battle,And a stormon the dayof tempest.
"So I will sendfireupon MoabAnd it will consumethe citadelsof Kerioth;And Moabwill dieamid tumult,With warcriesand the soundof a trumpet.
But Joshuacommandedthe people,saying,"You shall not shoutnorlet your voicebe heardnorlet a wordproceedout of your mouth,untilthe dayI tellyou, 'Shout!'Then you shall shout!"
At the seventhtime,when the priestsblewthe trumpets,Joshuasaidto the people,"Shout!For the LORDhas givenyou the city.
So the peopleshouted,and [priests] blewthe trumpets;and when the peopleheardthe soundof the trumpet,the peopleshoutedwith a greatshoutand the wallfelldownflat,so that the peoplewentup into the city,everymanstraightahead,and they tookthe city.
"It shall be that when they makea longblastwith the ram'shorn,and when you hearthe soundof the trumpet,allthe peopleshall shoutwith a greatshout;and the wallof the citywill falldownflat,and the peoplewill goup everymanstraightahead."
When he cameto Lehi,the Philistinesshoutedas they methim. And the Spiritof the LORDcameupon him mightilyso that the ropesthat were on his armswere as flaxthat is burnedwith fire,and his bondsdroppedfrom his hands.
So Davidaroseearlyin the morningand leftthe flockwith a keeperand took[the supplies] and wentas Jessehad commandedhim. And he cameto the circleof the campwhile the armywas goingout in battlearrayshoutingthe warcry.
The menof Israeland Judaharoseand shoutedand pursuedthe Philistinesas faras the valley,and to the gatesof Ekron.And the slainPhilistineslayalong the wayto Shaaraim,even to Gathand Ekron.
