but the seventhdayis a sabbathof the LORDyour God;[in it] you shall not doanywork,you or your sonor your daughteror your maleservantor your femaleservantor your oxor your donkeyor anyof your cattleor your sojournerwhostays with you, sothat your maleservantand your femaleservantmay restas well as you.
By the seventhdayGodcompletedHis workwhichHe had done,and He restedon the seventhdayfrom allHis workwhichHe had done.
In thosedaysI sawin Judahsome who were treadingwinepresseson the sabbath,and bringingin sacksof grainand loading[them] on donkeys,as wellas wine,grapes,figsand allkinds of loads,and they brought[them] into Jerusalemon the sabbathday.So I admonished[them] on the daythey soldfood.
Also menof Tyrewere livingthere [who] importedfishand allkinds of merchandise,and sold[them] to the sonsof Judahon the sabbath,even in Jerusalem.
Then I warnedthem and saidto them, "Whydo you spendthe nightin frontof the wall?Ifyou doso again,I will useforceagainst you." From that timeon they did not comeon the sabbath.
"Nowour fleshis like the fleshof our brothers,our childrenlike their children.Yet behold,we are forcingour sonsand our daughtersto be slaves,and someof our daughtersare forcedinto bondage[already], and we are helplessbecause our fieldsand vineyardsbelong to others."
"Sixdaysyou are to doyour work,but on the seventhdayyou shall cease[from labor] sothat your oxand your donkeymay rest,and the sonof your femaleslave,as well as your stranger,may refreshthemselves.
For sixdaysworkmay be done,but on the seventhdaythere is a sabbathof completerest,a holyconvocation.You shall not doanywork;it is a sabbathto the LORDin allyour dwellings.
Jesus saidto them, "The Sabbathwas madefor man,and not manfor the Sabbath.
Thenthey returnedand preparedspicesand perfumes.And on the Sabbaththey restedaccordingto the commandment.
Sixdaysyou shall laborand doallyour work,
For He has saidsomewhereconcerningthe seventh[day]: "AND GODRESTEDON THE SEVENTHDAYFROM ALLHIS WORKS";
