Therefore,O king,may my advicebe pleasingto you: breakawaynow from your sinsby [doing] righteousnessand from your iniquitiesby showingmercyto [the] poor,in casethere may be a prolongingof your prosperity.'
They said,"Come,let us buildfor ourselves a city,and a towerwhose top[will reach] into heaven,and let us makefor ourselves a name,otherwisewe will be scatteredabroad overthe faceof the wholeearth."
"Do you seehowAhabhas humbledhimself beforeMe? Becausehe has humbledhimself beforeMe, I will not bringthe evilin his days,[but] I will bringthe evilupon his housein his son'sdays."
I will also speakof Your testimoniesbeforekingsAnd shall not be ashamed.
When pridecomes,then comesdishonor,But with the humbleis wisdom.
By lovingkindnessand truthiniquityis atonedfor, And by the fearof the LORDone keepsawayfrom evil.
He who concealshis transgressionswill not prosper,But he who confessesand forsakes[them] will findcompassion.
For he has said,"By the powerof my handand by my wisdomI did[this], For I haveunderstanding;And I removedthe boundariesof the peoplesAnd plunderedtheir treasures,And like a mightymanI broughtdown[their] inhabitants,
"You feltsecurein your wickednessand said,Nooneseesme,' Your wisdomand your knowledge,they have deludedyou; For you have saidin your heart,I am, and thereis noonebesidesme.'
"Now,then, hearthis,you sensualone,Who dwellssecurely,Who saysin your heart,I am, and thereis noonebesidesme. I will not sitas a widow,Norknowlossof children.'
Seekthe welfareof the citywhereI have sentyou into exile,and prayto the LORDon its behalf;for in its welfareyou will havewelfare.'
But Jeremiahsaid,"They will not giveyou over. Pleaseobeythe LORDin whatI am sayingto you, that it may gowellwith you and you may live.
if a mandoes not oppressanyone, but restoresto the debtorhis pledge,does not commitrobbery,[but] giveshis breadto the hungryand coversthe nakedwith clothing,
"Speakand say,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I am againstyou, Pharaohkingof Egypt,The greatmonsterthat liesin the midstof his rivers,That has said,'My Nileis mine, and I myselfhave made[it].'
"The landof Egyptwill becomea desolationand waste.Then they will knowthat I am the LORD.Becauseyou said,'The Nileis mine, and I have made[it],'
Whoknowswhether He will [not] turnand relentAnd leavea blessingbehindHim, [Even] a grain offeringand a drinkofferingFor the LORDyour God?
You who rejoicein Lodebar,And say,"Have we not by our [own] strengthtakenKarnaimfor ourselves?"
"Whoknows,Godmay turnand relentand withdrawHis burningangerso that we will not perish."
"Thenthey will sweepthrough[like] the windand passon. But they will be heldguilty,They whosestrengthis their god."
Thisis the exultantcityWhich dwellssecurely,Who saysin her heart,"I am, and thereis noonebesidesme." Howshe has becomea desolation,A restingplacefor beasts!Everyonewho passesby her will hiss[And] wavehis hand[in contempt].
"Thereforebearfruitin keepingwith repentance;
"But givethat which is withinas charity,and thenall thingsare cleanfor you.
But as he was discussingrighteousness,self-controland the judgmentto come,Felixbecamefrightenedand said,"Go awayfor the present,and when I findtimeI will summonyou."
but [kept] declaringbothto thoseof Damascusfirst,and [also] at Jerusalemand [then] throughout allthe regionof Judea,and [even] to the Gentiles,that they should repentand turnto God,performingdeedsappropriateto repentance.
"Thereforerepentof thiswickednessof yours,and praythe Lordthat, ifpossible,the intentionof your heartmay be forgivenyou.
Therefore,knowingthe fearof the Lord,we persuademen,but we are mademanifestto God;and I hopethat we are made manifestalsoin your consciences.
For you were calledto freedom,brethren;only[do] not [turn] your freedominto an opportunityfor the flesh,but throughloveserveone another.
But the fruitof the Spiritis love,joy,peace,patience,kindness,goodness,faithfulness,
For in ChristJesusneithercircumcisionnoruncircumcisionmeansanything,but faithworkingthroughlove.
He who stealsmust stealno longer;but ratherhe must labor,performingwith his ownhandswhat is good,sothat he will have[something] to sharewith onewho hasneed.
"When the sungoesdown you shall surelyreturnthe pledgeto him, that he may sleepin his cloakand blessyou; and it will be righteousnessfor you beforethe LORDyour God.
Had I not fearedthe provocationby the enemy,That their adversarieswould misjudge,That they would say,"Our handis triumphant,And the LORDhas not doneallthis."'
"Otherwise, you may sayin your heart,'My powerand the strengthof my handmademe thiswealth.'
Aboveall,keepferventin your lovefor one another,becauselovecoversa multitudeof sins.
