"Whenyour daysare completeand you liedownwith your fathers,I will raiseup your descendantafteryou, whowill comeforthfrom you, and I will establishhis kingdom.
Then behold,the wordof the LORDcame to him, saying,"Thisman will not be your heir;but one whowill comeforthfrom your own body,he shall be your heir."
"[He] is a towerof deliveranceto His king,And showslovingkindnessto His anointed,To Davidand his descendantsforever."
"Otherwise it will comeabout, as soon as my lordthe kingsleepswith his fathers,that I and my sonSolomonwill be considered offenders."
"The kinghas alsosaidthus,'Blessedbe the LORD,the Godof Israel,whohas grantedone to siton my thronetodaywhile my own eyessee[it].'"
As David'stimeto diedrewnear,he chargedSolomonhis son,saying,
Then Davidsleptwith his fathersand was buriedin the cityof David.
sothat the LORDmay carryout His promisewhichHe spokeconcerningme, saying,Ifyour sonsare carefulof their way,to walkbeforeMe in truthwith alltheir heartand with alltheir soul,you shall not lacka manon the throneof Israel.'
"Behold,I intendto builda housefor the nameof the LORDmy God,as the LORDspoketo Davidmy father,saying,'Your son,whomI will seton your thronein your place,he will buildthe housefor My name.'
He said,"Blessedbe the LORD,the Godof Israel,whospokewith His mouthto my fatherDavidand has fulfilled[it] with His hand,saying,
Neverthelessyou shall not buildthe house,but your sonwho will be bornto you, he will buildthe housefor My name.'
"Now the LORDhas fulfilledHis wordwhichHe spoke;for I have risenin placeof my fatherDavidand siton the throneof Israel,as the LORDpromised,and have builtthe housefor the nameof the LORD,the Godof Israel.
then I will establishthe throneof your kingdomoverIsraelforever,justas I promisedto your fatherDavid,saying,You shall not lacka manon the throneof Israel.'
However, the LORDwas not willingto destroyJudah,for the sakeof DavidHis servant,sinceHe had promisedhim to givea lampto him through his sonsalways.
"Whenyour daysare fulfilledthat you must go[to be] with your fathers,that I will setup [one of] your descendantsafteryou, whowill be of your sons;and I will establishhis kingdom.
"Now,O LORDGod,Your promiseto my fatherDavidis fulfilled,for You have mademe kingovera peopleas numerousas the dustof the earth.
"Do you not knowthat the LORDGodof Israelgavethe ruleoverIsraelforeverto Davidand his sonsby a covenantof salt?
Yet the LORDwas not willingto destroythe houseof Davidbecauseof the covenantwhichHe had madewith David,and sinceHe had promisedto givea lampto him and his sonsforever.
Then allthe assemblymadea covenantwith the kingin the houseof God.And Jehoiada saidto them, "Behold,the king'ssonshall reign,as the LORDhas spokenconcerningthe sonsof David.
whohas keptwith Your servantDavid,my father,that whichYou have promisedhim; indeed You have spokenwith Your mouthand have fulfilledit with Your hand,as it is thisday.
Neverthelessyou shall not buildthe house,but your sonwho will be bornto you, he shall buildthe housefor My name.'
"So I will establishhis descendantsforeverAnd his throneas the daysof heaven.
Then in that dayThe nationswill resortto the rootof Jesse,Whowill standas a signalfor the peoples;And His restingplacewill be glorious.
Therewill be noendto the increaseof [His] governmentor of peace,On the throneof Davidand overhis kingdom,To establishit and to upholdit with justiceand righteousnessFrom thenon and forevermore.The zealof the LORDof hostswill accomplishthis.
"For thussaysthe LORD,Davidshall neverlacka manto siton the throneof the houseof Israel;
"Manyof those whosleepin the dustof the groundwill awake,theseto everlastinglife,but the othersto disgrace[and] everlastingcontempt.

"He will be greatand will be calledthe Sonof the Most High;and the LordGodwill giveHim the throneof His fatherDavid;
Thenbeginningwith Mosesand with allthe prophets,He explainedto them the things concerningHimselfin allthe Scriptures.
"For David,after he had servedthe purposeof Godin his owngeneration,fell asleep,and was laidamonghis fathersand underwentdecay;
"And so,because he was a prophetand knewthat GODHAD SWORNTO HIM WITH AN OATHTO SEAT[one] OF HIS DESCENDANTSON HIS THRONE,
Behold,I tellyou a mystery;we will not allsleep,but we will allbe changed,
The LORDsaidto Moses,"Behold,you are about to liedownwith your fathers;and thispeoplewill ariseand playthe harlotwith the strangegodsof the land,into the midstof whichthey are going,and will forsakeMe and breakMy covenantwhichI have madewith them.
For ifwe believethat Jesusdiedand rose again,evensoGodwill bringwith Him thosewho have fallen asleepin Jesus.
