The LORDrejectedallthe descendantsof Israeland afflictedthem and gavethem into the handof plunderers,untilHe had castthem out of His sight.
But the LORDwas graciousto them and hadcompassionon them and turnedto them becauseof His covenantwith Abraham,Isaac,and Jacob,and wouldnot destroythem or castthem from His presenceuntilnow.
So the angerof the LORDwas kindledagainst Israel,and He gavethem continuallyinto the handof Hazaelkingof Aram,and into the handof Ben-hadadthe sonof Hazael.
For he leftto Jehoahazof the armynot morethanfiftyhorsemenand tenchariotsand 10,000footmen,for the kingof Aramhad destroyedthem and madethem like the dustat threshing.
In the daysof Pekahkingof Israel,Tiglath-pileserkingof Assyriacameand capturedIjonand Abel-beth-maacahand Janoahand Kedeshand Hazorand Gileadand Galilee,allthe landof Naphtali;and he carriedthem captiveto Assyria.
They rejectedHis statutesand His covenantwhichHe madewith their fathersand His warningswith whichHe warnedthem. And they followedvanityand becamevain,and [went] afterthe nationswhichsurroundedthem, concerning whichthe LORDhad commandedthem not to dolike them.
So the LORDwas veryangrywith Israeland removedthem from His sight;nonewas leftexceptthe tribeof Judah.
Now in the fourthyearof KingHezekiah,whichwas the seventhyearof Hosheasonof Elahkingof Israel,Shalmaneserkingof Assyriacameup againstSamariaand besiegedit.
I will abandonthe remnantof My inheritanceand deliverthem into the handof their enemies,and they will becomeas plunderand spoilto alltheir enemies;
The LORDsaid,"I will removeJudahalsofrom My sight,as I have removedIsrael.And I will castoffJerusalem,thiscitywhichI have chosen,and the templeof whichI said,'My nameshall be there.'"
Surelyat the commandof the LORDit cameupon Judah,to remove[them] from His sightbecause of the sinsof Manasseh,according to allthat he had done,
O seedof IsraelHis servant,Sonsof Jacob,His chosenones!
The descendantsof Israelseparatedthemselves from allforeigners,and stoodand confessedtheir sinsand the iniquitiesof their fathers.
[Then] I will teachtransgressorsYour ways,And sinnerswill be convertedto You.
Therethey were in greatfear[where] nofearhad been;For Godscatteredthe bonesof him who encampedagainst you; You put[them] to shame,becauseGodhad rejectedthem.
A boarfrom the foresteatsit awayAnd whatevermovesin the fieldfeedson it.
For You have abandonedYour people,the houseof Jacob,Becausethey are filled[with influences] from the east,And [they are] soothsayerslike the Philistines,And they strike[bargains] with the childrenof foreigners.
"In the LORDallthe offspringof IsraelWill be justifiedand will glory."
Then the LORDsaidto me, "Even thoughMosesand Samuelwere to standbeforeMe, My heartwould not be with thispeople;sendthem awayfrom My presenceand let them go!
"O JacobMy servant,do not fear,"declaresthe LORD,"For I am with you. For I will makea fullendof allthe nationsWhereI have drivenyou, Yet I will not makea fullendof you; But I will correctyou properlyAnd by nomeansleaveyou unpunished."
For throughthe angerof the LORD[this] cameabout in Jerusalemand JudahuntilHe castthem out from His presence.And Zedekiahrebelledagainst the kingof Babylon.
They callthem rejectedsilver,Becausethe LORDhas rejectedthem.
"I will castyou out of My sight,as I have castout allyour brothers,allthe offspringof Ephraim.
Then she conceivedagainand gavebirthto a daughter.And the LORD saidto him, "Nameher Lo-ruhamah,for I will nolongerhavecompassionon the houseof Israel,that I would everforgivethem.
In the wombhe tookhis brotherby the heel,And in his maturityhe contendedwith God.
Then the menbecameextremelyfrightenedand they saidto him, "Howcould you dothis?"For the menknewthat he was fleeingfrom the presenceof the LORD,becausehe had toldthem.
But Jonahroseup to fleeto Tarshishfrom the presenceof the LORD.So he wentdownto Joppa,founda shipwhich was goingto Tarshish,paidthe fareand wentdowninto it to gowith them to Tarshishfrom the presenceof the LORD.
"ThenHe will alsosayto thoseon His left,Departfrom Me, accursedones, into the eternalfirewhich has been preparedfor the deviland his angels;
a landfor whichthe LORDyour Godcares;the eyesof the LORDyour Godare alwayson it, from the beginningeven to the endof the year.
"Then He said,'I will hideMy facefrom them, I will seewhattheir end[shall be]; For they are a perversegeneration,Sonsin whom is nofaithfulness.
Thesewill paythe penaltyof eternaldestruction,awayfrom the presenceof the Lordand from the gloryof His power,
knowwith certaintythat the LORDyour Godwill not continueto drivethesenationsout from beforeyou; but they will be a snareand a trapto you, and a whipon your sidesand thornsin your eyes,untilyou perishfrom offthisgoodlandwhichthe LORDyour Godhas givenyou.
The sonsof Dansetup for themselves the gravenimage;and Jonathan,the sonof Gershom,the sonof Manasseh,he and his sonswere prieststo the tribeof the Danitesuntilthe dayof the captivityof the land.
The angerof the LORDburnedagainst Israel,and He gavethem into the handsof plundererswho plunderedthem; and He soldthem into the handsof their enemiesaround[them], so that they couldnolongerstandbeforetheir enemies.
"For rebellionis as the sinof divination,And insubordinationis as iniquityand idolatry.Becauseyou have rejectedthe wordof the LORD,He has also rejectedyou from [being] king."
But Samuelsaidto Saul,"I will not returnwith you; for you have rejectedthe wordof the LORD,and the LORDhas rejectedyou from beingkingoverIsrael."
Now the LORDsaidto Samuel,"Howlongwill you grieveoverSaul,since I have rejectedhim from beingkingoverIsrael?Fillyour hornwith oiland go;I will sendyou to Jessethe Bethlehemite,for I have selecteda kingfor Myself among his sons."
