The elderswho rulewellare to be considered worthyof doublehonor,especiallythosewho work hardat preachingand teaching.
When they had crossedover,Elijahsaidto Elisha,"AskwhatI shall dofor you beforeI am takenfrom you." And Elishasaid,"Please,let a doubleportionof your spiritbe upon me."
"Speakkindlyto Jerusalem;And callout to her, that her warfarehas ended,That her iniquityhas been removed,That she has receivedof the LORD'ShandDoublefor allher sins."
"I will firstdoublyrepaytheir iniquityand their sin,becausethey have pollutedMy land;they have filledMy inheritancewith the carcassesof their detestableidolsand with their abominations."
Let those who persecuteme be putto shame,but as for me, let me not be putto shame;Let them be dismayed,but let me not be dismayed.Bringon them a dayof disaster,And crushthem with twofolddestruction!
Returnto the stronghold,O prisonerswho have the hope;This verydayI am declaringthat I will restoredoubleto you.
You may eatit anywhere,you and your households,for it is your compensationin returnfor your servicein the tentof meeting.
"Behold,I have told you in advance.
"Stayin that house,eatingand drinkingwhat they giveyou; for the laboreris worthyof his wages.Do not keep movingfrom houseto house.
And the Lordsaid,"Whothenis the faithfuland sensiblesteward,whomhis masterwill put in chargeof his servants,to givethem their rationsat the proper time?
"I sentyou to reapthat for whichyou have not labored;othershave laboredand you have enteredinto their labor."
And thisthey did,sendingit in chargeof Barnabasand Saulto the elders.
"In everythingI showedyou that by working hardin this manneryou musthelpthe weakand rememberthe wordsof the LordJesus,that He Himselfsaid,'It is moreblessedto givethanto receive.'"
They also honoredus with manymarks of respect;and when we were setting sail,they supplied[us] with allwe needed.
orhe who exhorts,in his exhortation;he who gives,with liberality;he who leads,with diligence;he who shows mercy,with cheerfulness.
Yes,they were pleased[to do so], and they are indebtedto them. For ifthe Gentileshave sharedin their spiritual things,they are indebtedto ministerto them alsoin material things.
GreetTryphaenaand Tryphosa,workersin the Lord.GreetPersisthe beloved,whohas workedhardin the Lord.
But by the graceof GodI amwhatI am,and His gracetowardme did not provevain;but I laboredeven morethan allof them, yetnot I, but the graceof Godwith me.
that you alsobe in subjectionto such menand to everyonewho helps in the workand labors.
For we are God'sfellow workers;you are God'sfield,God'sbuilding.
And working together[with Him], we alsourgeyou not to receivethe graceof Godin vain--
The one who is taughtthe wordis to shareallgood thingswith the one who teaches[him].
"They shall eatequalportions,except[what they receive] from the saleof their fathers'[estates].
holding fastthe wordof life,sothat in the dayof ChristI will have reason to glorybecauseI did not runin vainnortoilin vain.
Receivehim thenin the Lordwith alljoy,and holdmen likehim in high regard;
Indeed,true companion,I askyou alsoto helpthesewomenwhohave shared my strugglein [the cause of] the gospel,togetherwith Clementalsoand the restof my fellow workers,whosenamesare in the bookof life.
(but ifa mandoes not know howto managehis ownhousehold,howwill he take careof the churchof God?),
For it is for thiswe laborand strive,becausewe have fixed our hopeon the livingGod,whois the Saviorof allmen,especiallyof believers.
Do not neglectthe spiritual giftwithinyou, whichwas bestowedon you throughprophetic utterancewith the layingon of handsby the presbytery.
Pay close attentionto yourselfand to your teaching;perseverein these things,for as you dothisyou will ensure salvationbothfor yourselfand for thosewho hearyou.
In pointingout these thingsto the brethren,you will be a goodservantof ChristJesus,[constantly] nourishedon the wordsof the faithand of the sounddoctrinewhichyou have been following.
Do not receivean accusationagainstan elderexcepton the basisof twoorthreewitnesses.
Honorwidowswho are widowsindeed;
The hard-workingfarmeroughtto be the firstto receive his shareof the crops.
preachthe word;be readyin season[and] out of season;reprove,rebuke,exhort,with greatpatienceand instruction.
Obeyyour leadersand submit[to them], for they keep watchoveryour soulsas those who will givean account.Let them dothiswith joyand not with grief,for thiswould be unprofitablefor you.
Greetallof your leadersand allthe saints.Thosefrom Italygreetyou.
Rememberthosewho ledyou, whospokethe wordof Godto you; and consideringthe resultof their conduct,imitatetheir faith.
