So Davidsaidto Jonathan,"Behold,tomorrowis the newmoon,and I ought to sitdownto eatwith the king.But letme go,that I may hidemyself in the fielduntilthe thirdevening.
He said,"Whywill you goto him today?It is neithernewmoonnorsabbath."And she said,"[It will be] well."
For it is not an enemywho reproachesme, Then I could bear[it]; Noris it one who hatesme who has exaltedhimself againstme, Then I could hidemyself from him.
Blowthe trumpetat the newmoon,At the fullmoon,on our feastday.
The prudentseesthe eviland hideshimself, But the naivegoon, and are punishedfor it.
saying,"Whenwill the newmoonbe over,So that we may sellgrain,And the sabbath,that we may openthe wheat[market], To makethe bushelsmallerand the shekelbigger,And to cheatwith dishonestscales,
"Also in the dayof your gladnessand in your appointedfeasts,and on the first[days] of your months,you shall blowthe trumpetsoveryour burntofferings,and overthe sacrificesof your peaceofferings;and they shall be as a reminderof you beforeyour God.I am the LORDyour God."
Then at the beginningof each of your monthsyou shall presenta burntofferingto the LORD:twobullsand oneram,sevenmalelambsone yearoldwithoutdefect;
Thereforethey pickedup stonesto throwat Him, but JesushidHimself and wentout of the temple.
Thenimmediatelythe brethrensentPaulout to goas faras the sea;and Silasand Timothyremainedthere.
Thereforenooneis to act as your judgein regard to foodordrinkorin respectto a festivalora new moonora Sabbathday--
So JonathantoldDavidsaying,"Saulmy fatheris seekingto putyou to death.Nowtherefore, pleasebe on guardin the morning,and stayin a secretplaceand hideyourself.
Then Jonathansaidto him, "Tomorrowis the newmoon,and you will be missedbecauseyour seatwill be empty.
"When you have stayedfor threedays,you shall godownquicklyand cometo the placewhereyou hidyourself on that eventfulday,and you shall remainby the stoneEzel.
So Davidhidin the field;and when the newmooncame,the kingsatdownto eatfood.
It cameabout the nextday,the second[day] of the newmoon,that David'splacewas empty;so Saulsaidto Jonathanhis son,"Whyhas the sonof Jessenot cometo the meal,eitheryesterdayortoday?"
Then Jonathansaidto David,"Whateveryou say,I will dofor you."
"Ifyour fathermissesme at all,then say,'Davidearnestlyasked[leave] of me to runto Bethlehemhis city,becauseit is the yearlysacrificetherefor the wholefamily.'
