Now Solomongatheredchariotsand horsemen;and he had1400chariotsand 12,000horsemen,and he stationedthem in the chariotcitiesand with the kingin Jerusalem.
"Nowtherefore, commandthat they cutfor me cedarsfrom Lebanon,and my servantswill be with your servants;and I will giveyou wagesfor your servantsaccording to allthat you say,for you knowthat thereis nooneamong us who knowshow to cuttimberlike the Sidonians."
Now it cameabout when Solomonhad finishedbuildingthe houseof the LORD,and the king'shouse,and allthat Solomondesiredto do,
[As for] allthe peoplewho were leftof the Amorites,the Hittites,the Perizzites,the Hivitesand the Jebusites,whowere not of the sonsof Israel,
Solomonamassedchariotsand horsemen.He had1400chariotsand 12,000horsemen,and he stationedthem in the chariotcitiesand with the kingat Jerusalem.
So they appointedtaskmastersoverthem to afflictthem with hardlabor.And they builtfor Pharaohstoragecities,Pithomand Raamses.
Allthat my eyesdesiredI did not refusethem. I did not withholdmy heartfrom anypleasure,for my heartwas pleasedbecauseof allmy laborand thiswas my rewardfor allmy labor.
Whatthe eyesseeis betterthanwhat the souldesires.Thistoois futilityand a strivingafter wind.
