Why should the nations say, “Where now is their Elohim?”


And I beat them as dust before the wind; I empty them out like dirt in the streets.


Let those who are rejoicing at my evil Be ashamed and abashed altogether; Let those who are exalting themselves over me Be clad in shame and humiliation.


With murder in my bones, My enemies have reproached me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your Elohim?”


My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day, “Where is your Elohim?”


The righteous rejoices when he has seen the vengeance, He washes his feet in the blood of the wrong,


Why should the nations say, “Where is their Elohim?” Let the vengeance of the outpoured blood of Your servants Be known among the nations, Before our eyes.


The righteous one flourishes like a palm tree, He grows like a cedar in Leḇanon.


O יהוה, Your hand is high, they do not see. They see the ardour of the people and are ashamed; also, let the fire for Your adversaries consume them.


“I have stirred up one from the north, and he comes; from the rising of the sun he calls on My Name. And he comes against princes as though mortar, as the potter treads clay.


“For look, I shall make you small among nations, despised among men.


“And I shall repay Baḇel and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all the evil they have done in Tsiyon before your eyes,” declares יהוה.


We are ashamed because we have heard reproach. Shame has covered our faces, for strangers have come into the set-apart places of the House of יהוה.


And they shall gird on sackcloth, and be covered with trembling. And shame shall be on every face, and baldness on all their heads.


“Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the zither, the lyre, the harp, the pipes, and all kinds of instruments, and you fall down and do obeisance to the image which I have made, good! But if you do not do obeisance, you are immediately thrown into the midst of a burning furnace of fire. And who is the elah who does deliver you from my hands?”


Let the priests, servants of יהוה, weep between the porch and the slaughter-place. And let them say, “Spare Your people, O יהוה, and do not give Your inheritance to reproach, for the nations to rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their Elohim?’ ”


“Because of your violence against your brother Ya‛aqoḇ, let shame cover you. And you shall be cut off forever.


“And you should not have looked on your brother’s day in the day of his estrangement, nor rejoiced over the children of Yehuḏah in the day of their destruction, nor made your mouth great in the day of distress,


And now, many nations shall be gathered against you, who are saying, “Let her be defiled, and let our eyes look upon Tsiyon!”


Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. When I have fallen I have risen, when I sit in darkness יהוה is a light to me.


יהוה has turned aside your judgments. He has faced your enemy. The Sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, יהוה, is in your midst. No longer need you fear evil.


“And they shall be like mighty men, who trample down the mud of the streets in the battle. And they shall fight because יהוה is with them, and the riders on horses shall be put to shame.


And your eyes shall see, and you shall say, ‘Great is יהוה beyond the border of Yisra’ĕl!’


“And you shall trample the wrongdoers, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” said יהוה of hosts.


He trusted in Elohim, let Him rescue Him now if He desires Him, for He said, ‘I am the Son of Elohim.’ ”


and the Kena‛anites and all the inhabitants of the land hear, and shall surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What then do You do for Your great Name?”


“Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you set-apart emissaries and prophets, for Elohim has completely avenged you on her!”
