And in the first year of Koresh sovereign of Persia, in order to accomplish the word of יהוה by the mouth of Yirmeyahu, יהוה stirred up the spirit of Koresh sovereign of Persia, so that he called out in all his reign, and also put it in writing, saying,
O daughter of Baḇel, who are to be destroyed, Blessed is he who repays you your deed, What you did to us!
“And Baḇel, the splendour of reigns, the comeliness of the pride of the Kasdim, shall be as when Elohim overthrew Seḏom and Amorah.
“And I shall make it a possession for the porcupine, and marshes of muddy water; and shall sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares יהוה of hosts.
For the waters of Nimrim are wastes, for the green grass has withered away; the grass fails, there is no greenness.

They shall be brought to Baḇel, and be there until the day that I visit them,’ declares יהוה. ‘Then I shall bring them back and restore them to this place.’ ”
And all nations shall serve him and his son and his son’s son, until the time of his land comes. And then many nations and great sovereigns shall make him serve them.
“For thus said יהוה, ‘When seventy years are completed, at Baḇel I shall visit you and establish My good word toward you, to bring you back to this place.
“I shall make you an everlasting ruin, and your cities uninhabited. And you shall know that I am יהוה.
in the first year of his reign I, Dani’ĕl, observed from the Scriptures the number of the years, according to the word of יהוה given to Yirmeyah the prophet, for the completion of the wastes of Yerushalayim would be seventy years.
Is he therefore to keep on emptying his net, and killing nations without sparing?
