But I do not take all the reign out of his hand, because I have made him ruler all the days of his life for the sake of My servant Dawiḏ, whom I chose because he guarded My commands and My laws.


And to his son I give one tribe, so that My servant Dawiḏ shall always have a lamp before Me in Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen for Myself, to put My Name there.


And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him, and his heart was not perfect to יהוה his Elohim, as was the heart of his father Dawiḏ.

“You have certainly stricken Eḏom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be esteemed and stay in your house. But why do you stir up yourself to evil, that you should fall – you and Yehuḏah with you?”


“You have said, ‘See, I have stricken Eḏom,’ and your heart has lifted you up to boast. Now stay at home, why should you stir up yourself to evil, that you should fall – you and Yehuḏah with you?”


But when he became strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he trespassed against יהוה his Elohim by entering the Hĕḵal of יהוה to burn incense on the slaughter-place of incense.


And when he was in distress, he sought the face of יהוה his Elohim, and humbled himself greatly before the Elohim of his fathers,


And his prayer, and his entreaty, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places where he built high places and set up the Ashĕrim and the carved images, before he was humbled, see, they are written among the words of the seers.


And he did not humble himself before יהוה, as his father Menashsheh had humbled himself, for Amon trespassed more and more.


“Because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before Elohim when you heard His words against this place and against its inhabitants, and you humbled yourself before Me, and you tore your garments and wept before Me, I also have heard,” declares יהוה.


I have not turned aside from Your right-rulings, For You Yourself have taught me.


If your sons guard My covenant And My witnesses that I teach them, Their sons shall sit upon your throne forever.


Also, Your servant is warned by them, In guarding them there is great reward.


The fear of יהוה prolongs days, But the years of the wrong ones are shortened.


For riches are not forever, Nor a diadem to all generations.


But it shall not be well with the wrong one, nor would he prolong his days as a shadow, because he does not fear before Elohim.


For יהוה of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up, so that it is brought low;


“See, he whose being is not upright in him is puffed up. But the righteous one lives by his steadfastness.


And to keep me from exalting myself because of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to hit me, to keep me from exalting myself.


“Do not eat it, that it might be well with you and your children after you, when you do what is right in the eyes of יהוה.


“Guard, and obey all these words which I command you, that it might be well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the eyes of יהוה your Elohim.


All the words I am commanding you, guard to do it – do not add to it nor take away from it.


“Do according to the Torah in which they teach you, according to the right-ruling which they say to you. You do not turn to the right or to the left from the word which they declare to you.


“Do not add to the Word which I command you, and do not take away from it, so as to guard the commands of יהוה your Elohim which I am commanding you.


“And you shall guard to do as יהוה your Elohim has commanded you – do not turn aside, to the right or to the left.


“And you shall remember that יהוה your Elohim led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, prove you, to know what is in your heart, whether you guard His commands or not.


In the same way, you younger ones, be subject to elders. And gird yourselves with humility toward one another, for “Elohim resists the proud, but gives favour to the humble.”


And Shemu’ĕl declared to the people the rulings of the reign, and wrote it in a book and placed it before יהוה. And Shemu’ĕl sent all the people away, each to his house.


“For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and stubbornness is as wickedness and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of יהוה, He also does reject you as sovereign.”
