10 “You have certainly stricken Eḏom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be esteemed and stay in your house. But why do you stir up yourself to evil, that you should fall – you and Yehuḏah with you?”

He struck Eḏom in the Valley of Salt, ten thousand, and took Sela in battle, and called its name Yoqthe’ĕl to this day.


But when he became strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he trespassed against יהוה his Elohim by entering the Hĕḵal of יהוה to burn incense on the slaughter-place of incense.


However, Ḥizqiyahu did not repay according to the good done to him, for his heart was lifted up, therefore wrath came upon him and upon Yehuḏah and Yerushalayim.


And he sent messengers to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, sovereign of Yehuḏah? I am not coming against you this day, but against the house with which I am fighting, for Elohim commanded me to make haste. Leave Elohim alone, who is with me, lest He destroy you.”


And Mosheh said to Pharaoh, “Explain yourself to me: When am I to pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, and remain only in the river?”


A man of wrath stirs up strife, But he who is patient appeases strife.


Before destruction comes pride, And before a fall a haughty spirit!


The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop fighting before it breaks out.


For a man to cease from strife is esteem, But every fool bursts out.


Do not go forth to strive in haste, For what would you do in the end, When your neighbour has put you to shame?


A passer-by meddling in a strife not his own Is like one who takes hold of a dog by the ears.


Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no evil.


“By your great wisdom, by your trade you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches.”


Thus said the Master יהוה, “Are you the one I spoke of in former days by My servants the prophets of Yisra’ĕl, who prophesied for years in those days, to bring you against them?


“Son of man, set your face against Goḡ, of the land of Maḡoḡ, the prince of Rosh, Mesheḵ, and Tuḇal, and prophesy against him.


“Persia, Kush, and Put are with them, all of them with shield and helmet,


and he shall capture the army, his heart being exalted. And he shall cause tens of thousands to fall, but not prevail.


“See, he whose being is not upright in him is puffed up. But the righteous one lives by his steadfastness.


“And also, because wine betrays him, a man is proud, and he does not stay at home. Because he enlarges his appetite as She’ol, and he is like death, and is not satisfied, and gathers to himself all nations and heaps up for himself all peoples.


that your heart then becomes lifted up, and you forget יהוה your Elohim who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, from the house of bondage,


And let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,


But He gives greater favour. Because of this He says, “Elohim resists the proud, but gives favour to the humble.”


And Aḇimeleḵ came to the tower and fought against it, and approached the door of the tower to burn it with fire.
