JosephH6240, being seventeenH7651 H8141yearsH1121oldH7462, was feeding[H8802] H6629the flockH251with his brethrenH5288; and the ladH1121was with the sonsH1090of BilhahH1121, and with the sonsH2153of ZilpahH1, his father'sH802wivesH3130: and JosephH935brought[H8686] H1unto his fatherH7451their evilH1681report.

³ H3478Now IsraelH157loved[H8804] H3130JosephH1121more than all his childrenH1121, because he was the sonH2208of his old ageH6213: and he made[H8804] H3801him a coatH6446of many colours.

⁴ H251And when his brethrenH7200saw[H8799] H1that their fatherH157loved[H8804] H251him more than all his brethrenH8130, they hated[H8799] H3201him, and could[H8804] H1696not speak[H8763] H7965peaceably unto him.

¹⁸ H7200And when they saw[H8799] H7350him afar offH7126, even before he came near[H8799] H5230unto them, they conspired[H8691] H4191against him to slay[H8687]  him.

²⁵ H3427And they sat down[H8799] H398to eat[H8800] H3899breadH5375: and they lifted up[H8799] H5869their eyesH7200and looked[H8799] H736, and, behold, a companyH3459of IshmeelitesH935came[H8802] H1568from GileadH1581with their camelsH5375bearing[H8802] H5219spiceryH6875and balmH3910and myrrhH1980, going[H8802] H3381to carry it down[H8687] H4714to Egypt.

²⁶ H3063And JudahH559said[H8799] H251unto his brethrenH1215, What profitH2026is it if we slay[H8799] H251our brotherH3680, and conceal[H8765] H1818his blood?

³⁰ H7725And he returned[H8799] H251unto his brethrenH559, and said[H8799] H3206, The childH575is not; and I, whitherH935shall I go[H8802] ?

³¹ H3947And they took[H8799] H3130Joseph'sH3801coatH7819, and killed[H8799] H8163a kidH5795of the goatsH2881, and dipped[H8799] H3801the coatH1818in the blood;

³³ H5234And he knew it[H8686] H559, and said[H8799] H1121, It is my son'sH3801coatH7451; an evilH2416beastH398hath devoured[H8804] H3130him; JosephH2963is without doubt[H8800] H2963rent in pieces[H8776] .

³⁴ H3290And JacobH7167rent[H8799] H8071his clothesH7760, and put[H8799] H8242sackclothH4975upon his loinsH56, and mourned[H8691] H1121for his sonH7227manyH3117days.

³⁵ H1121And all his sonsH1323and all his daughtersH6965rose up[H8799] H5162to comfort[H8763] H3985him; but he refused[H8762] H5162to be comforted[H8692] H559; and he said[H8799] H3381, For I will go down[H8799] H7585into the graveH1121unto my sonH57mourningH1. Thus his fatherH1058wept[H8799]  for him.
