2 Samuel 24 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H3254And again[H8686] H639the angerH3068of the LORDH2734was kindled[H8800] H3478against IsraelH5496, and he moved[H8686] H1732DavidH559against them to say[H8800] H3212, Go[H8798] H4487, number[H8798] H3478IsraelH3063and Judah.

2 H4428For the kingH559said[H8799] H3097to JoabH8269the captainH2428of the hostH7751, which was with him, Go now through[H8798] H7626all the tribesH3478of IsraelH1835, from DanH884even to BeershebaH6485, and number[H8798] H5971ye the peopleH3045, that I may know[H8804] H4557the numberH5971of the people.

3 H3097And JoabH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH3068, Now the LORDH430thy GodH3254add[H8686] H5971unto the peopleH1992, how many soeverH3967they be, an hundredfoldH6471 H5869, and that the eyesH113of my lordH4428the kingH7200may see[H8802] H113it : but why doth my lordH4428the kingH2654delight[H8804] H1697in this thing?

4 H4428Notwithstanding the king'sH1697wordH2388prevailed[H8799] H3097against JoabH8269, and against the captainsH2428of the hostH3097. And JoabH8269and the captainsH2428of the hostH3318went out[H8799] H6440from the presenceH4428of the kingH6485, to number[H8800] H5971the peopleH3478of Israel.

5 H5674And they passed over[H8799] H3383JordanH2583, and pitched[H8799] H6177in AroerH3225, on the right sideH5892of the cityH8432that lieth in the midstH5158of the riverH1410of GadH3270, and toward Jazer:

6 H935Then they came[H8799] H1568to GileadH776, and to the landH8483of TahtimhodshiH935; and they came[H8799] H1842to DanjaanH5439, and aboutH6721to Zidon,

7 H935And came[H8799] H4013to the strong holdH6865of TyreH5892, and to all the citiesH2340of the HivitesH3669, and of the CanaanitesH3318: and they went out[H8799] H5045to the southH3063of JudahH884, even to Beersheba.

8 H7751So when they had gone[H8799] H776through all the landH935, they came[H8799] H3389to JerusalemH7097at the endH8672of nineH2320monthsH6242and twentyH3117days.

9 H3097And JoabH5414gave up[H8799] H4557the sumH4662of the numberH5971of the peopleH4428unto the kingH3478: and there were in IsraelH8083eightH3967hundredH505thousandH2428valiantH376men[H8677] H381 H8025that drew[H8802] H2719the swordH376; and the menH3063of JudahH2568were fiveH3967hundredH505thousandH376men.

10 H1732And David'sH3820heartH5221smote[H8686] H310him afterH5608that he had numbered[H8804] H5971the peopleH1732. And DavidH559said[H8799] H3068unto the LORDH2398, I have sinned[H8804] H3966greatlyH6213in that I have done[H8804] H3068: and now, I beseech thee, O LORDH5674, take away[H8685] H5771the iniquityH5650of thy servantH3966; for I have done veryH5528foolishly[H8738] .

11 H1732For when DavidH6965was up[H8799] H1242in the morningH1697, the wordH3068of the LORDH5030came unto the prophetH1410GadH1732, David'sH2374seerH559, saying[H8800] ,

12 H1980Go[H8800] H559and say[H8804] H1732unto DavidH1696, Thus saith[H8765] H3068the LORDH5190, I offer[H8802] H7969thee threeH977things; choose[H8798] H259thee oneH6213of them, that I may do it unto thee[H8799] .

13 H1410So GadH935came[H8799] H1732to DavidH5046, and told[H8686] H559him, and said[H8799] H7651unto him, Shall sevenH8141yearsH7458of famineH935come[H8799] H776unto thee in thy landH5127? or wilt thou flee[H8800] H7969threeH2320monthsH6440beforeH6862thine enemiesH7291, while they pursue[H8802] H7969thee? or that there be threeH3117daysH1698' pestilenceH776in thy landH3045? now advise[H8798] H7200, and see[H8798] H1697what answerH7725I shall return[H8686] H7971to him that sent[H8802]  me.

14 H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H1410unto GadH3966, I am in a greatH6887strait[H8804] H5307: let us fall[H8799] H3027now into the handH3068of the LORDH7356; for his merciesH7227are greatH5307: and let me not fall[H8799] H3027into the handH120of man.

15 H3068So the LORDH5414sent[H8799] H1698a pestilenceH3478upon IsraelH1242from the morningH6256even to the timeH4150appointedH4191: and there died[H8799] H5971of the peopleH1835from DanH884even to BeershebaH7657seventyH505thousandH376men.

16 H4397And when the angelH7971stretched out[H8799] H3027his handH3389upon JerusalemH7843to destroy[H8763] H3068it, the LORDH5162repented[H8735] H7451him of the evilH559, and said[H8799] H4397to the angelH7843that destroyed[H8688] H5971the peopleH7227, It is enoughH7503: stay[H8685] H3027now thine handH4397. And the angelH3068of the LORDH1637was by the threshingplaceH728of AraunahH2983the Jebusite.

17 H1732And DavidH559spake[H8799] H3068unto the LORDH7200when he saw[H8800] H4397the angelH5221that smote[H8688] H5971the peopleH559, and said[H8799] H2398, Lo, I have sinned[H8804] H5753, and I have done wickedly[H8689] H6629: but these sheepH6213, what have they done[H8804] H3027? let thine handH1, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father'sH1004house.

18 H1410And GadH935came[H8799] H3117that dayH1732to DavidH559, and said[H8799] H5927unto him, Go up[H8798] H6965, rear[H8685] H4196an altarH3068unto the LORDH1637in the threshingfloorH728of AraunahH2983the Jebusite.

19 H1732And DavidH1697, according to the sayingH1410of GadH5927, went up[H8799] H3068as the LORDH6680commanded[H8765] .

20 H728And AraunahH8259looked[H8686] H7200, and saw[H8799] H4428the kingH5650and his servantsH5674coming on[H8802] H728toward him: and AraunahH3318went out[H8799] H7812, and bowed[H8691] H4428himself before the kingH639on his faceH776upon the ground.

21 H728And AraunahH559said[H8799] H113, Wherefore is my lordH4428the kingH935come[H8804] H5650to his servantH1732? And DavidH559said[H8799] H7069, To buy[H8800] H1637the threshingfloorH1129of thee, to build[H8800] H4196an altarH3068unto the LORDH4046, that the plagueH6113may be stayed[H8735] H5971from the people.

22 H728And AraunahH559said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH113, Let my lordH4428the kingH3947take[H8799] H5927and offer up[H8686] H2896what seemeth goodH5869unto himH7200: behold[H8798] H1241, here be oxenH5930for burnt sacrificeH4173, and threshing instrumentsH3627and other instrumentsH1241of the oxenH6086for wood.

23 H728All these things did AraunahH4428, as a kingH5414, give[H8804] H4428unto the kingH728. And AraunahH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH3068, The LORDH430thy GodH7521accept[H8799]  thee.

24 H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H728unto AraunahH7069, Nay; but I will surely[H8800] H7069buy[H8799] H4242it of thee at a priceH5927: neither will I offer[H8686] H5930burnt offeringsH3068unto the LORDH430my GodH2600of that which doth cost me nothingH1732. So DavidH7069bought[H8799] H1637the threshingfloorH1241and the oxenH2572for fiftyH8255shekelsH3701of silver.

25 H1732And DavidH1129built[H8799] H4196there an altarH3068unto the LORDH5927, and offered[H8686] H5930burnt offeringsH8002and peace offeringsH3068. So the LORDH6279was intreated[H8735] H776for the landH4046, and the plagueH6113was stayed[H8735] H3478from Israel.
