2 Chronicles 32 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H310AfterH1697these thingsH571, and the establishmentH5576thereof, SennacheribH4428kingH804of AssyriaH935came[H8804] H935, and entered[H8799] H3063into JudahH2583, and encamped[H8799] H1219against the fenced[H8803] H5892citiesH559, and thought[H8799] H1234to win[H8800]  them for himself.

2 H3169And when HezekiahH7200saw[H8799] H5576that SennacheribH935was come[H8804] H6440, and that he was purposedH4421to fightH3389against Jerusalem,

3 H3289He took counsel[H8735] H8269with his princesH1368and his mighty menH5640to stop[H8800] H4325the watersH5869of the fountainsH2351which were withoutH5892the cityH5826: and they did help[H8799]  him.

4 H6908So there was gatheredH7227muchH5971peopleH6908together[H8735] H5640, who stopped[H8799] H4599all the fountainsH5158, and the brookH7857that ran[H8802] H8432through the midstH776of the landH559, saying[H8800] H4428, Why should the kingsH804of AssyriaH935come[H8799] H4672, and find[H8804] H7227muchH4325water?

5 H2388Also he strengthened[H8691] H1129himself, and built up[H8799] H2346all the wallH6555that was broken[H8803] H5927, and raised it up[H8686] H4026to the towersH312, and anotherH2346wallH2351withoutH2388, and repaired[H8762] H4407MilloH5892in the cityH1732of DavidH6213, and made[H8799] H7973dartsH4043and shieldsH7230in abundance.

6 H5414And he set[H8799] H8269captainsH4421of warH5971over the peopleH6908, and gathered them together[H8799] H7339to him in the streetH8179of the gateH5892of the cityH1696, and spake[H8762] H3824comfortablyH559to them, saying[H8800] ,

7 H2388Be strong[H8798] H553and courageous[H8798] H3372, be not afraid[H8799] H2865nor dismayed[H8735] H6440forH4428the kingH804of AssyriaH1995, nor for all the multitudeH7227that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

8 H2220With him is an armH1320of fleshH3068; but with us is the LORDH430our GodH5826to help[H8800] H3898us, and to fight[H8736] H4421our battlesH5971. And the peopleH5564rested[H8735] H1697themselves upon the wordsH3169of HezekiahH4428kingH3063of Judah.

9 H310AfterH5576this did SennacheribH4428kingH804of AssyriaH7971send[H8804] H5650his servantsH3389to JerusalemH3923, (but he himself laid siege against LachishH4475, and all his powerH3169with him,) unto HezekiahH4428kingH3063of JudahH3063, and unto all JudahH3389that were at JerusalemH559, saying[H8800] ,

10 H559Thus saith[H8804] H5576SennacheribH4428kingH804of AssyriaH982, Whereon do ye trust[H8802] H3427, that ye abide[H8802] H4692in the siegeH3389in Jerusalem?

11 H3169Doth not HezekiahH5496persuade[H8688] H5414you to give[H8800] H4191over yourselves to die[H8800] H7458by famineH6772and by thirstH559, saying[H8800] H3068, The LORDH430our GodH5337shall deliver[H8686] H3709us out of the handH4428of the kingH804of Assyria?

12 H3169Hath not the same HezekiahH5493taken away[H8689] H1116his high placesH4196and his altarsH559, and commanded[H8799] H3063JudahH3389and JerusalemH559, saying[H8800] H7812, Ye shall worship[H8691] H6440beforeH259oneH4196altarH6999, and burn incense[H8686]  upon it?

13 H3045Know[H8799] H1ye not what I and my fathersH6213have done[H8804] H5971unto all the peopleH776of other landsH430? were the godsH1471of the nationsH776of those landsH3201any ways[H8800] H3201able[H8804] H5337to deliver[H8687] H776their landsH3027out of mine hand?

14 H430Who was there among all the godsH1471of those nationsH1that my fathersH2763utterly destroyed[H8689] H3201, that could[H8804] H5337deliver[H8687] H5971his peopleH3027out of mine handH430, that your GodH3201should be able[H8799] H5337to deliver[H8687] H3027you out of mine hand?

15 H3808Now therefore let notH2396HezekiahH5377deceive[H8686] H5496you, nor persuade[H8686] H539you on this manner, neither yet believe[H8686] H433him: for no godH1471of any nationH4467or kingdomH3201was able[H8799] H5337to deliver[H8687] H5971his peopleH3027out of mine handH3027, and out of the handH1of my fathersH430: how much less shall your GodH5337deliver[H8686] H3027you out of mine hand?

16 H5650And his servantsH1696spake[H8765] H3068yet more against the LORDH430GodH5650, and against his servantH3169Hezekiah.

17 H3789He wrote[H8804] H5612also lettersH2778to rail[H8763] H3068on the LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH559, and to speak[H8800] H559against him, saying[H8800] H430, As the godsH1471of the nationsH776of other landsH5337have not delivered[H8689] H5971their peopleH3027out of mine handH430, so shall not the GodH3169of HezekiahH5337deliver[H8686] H5971his peopleH3027out of mine hand.

18 H7121Then they cried[H8799] H1419with a loudH6963voiceH3066in the Jews' speechH5971unto the peopleH3389of JerusalemH2346that were on the wallH3372, to affright[H8763] H926them, and to trouble[H8763] H3920them; that they might take[H8799] H5892the city.

19 H1696And they spake[H8762] H5921againstH430the GodH3389of JerusalemH430, as against the godsH5971of the peopleH776of the earthH4639, which were the workH3027of the handsH120of man.

20 H3169And for this cause HezekiahH4428the kingH5030, and the prophetH3470IsaiahH1121the sonH531of AmozH6419, prayed[H8691] H2199and cried[H8799] H8064to heaven.

21 H3068And the LORDH7971sent[H8799] H4397an angelH3582, which cut off[H8686] H1368all the mighty menH2428of valourH5057, and the leadersH8269and captainsH4264in the campH4428of the kingH804of AssyriaH7725. So he returned[H8799] H1322with shameH6440of faceH776to his own landH935. And when he was come[H8799] H1004into the houseH430of his godH3329, they that came forthH4578of his own bowelsH5307slew[H8689] H2719him there with the sword.

22 H3068Thus the LORDH3467saved[H8686] H3169HezekiahH3427and the inhabitants[H8802] H3389of JerusalemH3027from the handH5576of SennacheribH4428the kingH804of AssyriaH3027, and from the handH5095of all other, and guided[H8762] H5439them on every side.

23 H7227And manyH935brought[H8688] H4503giftsH3068unto the LORDH3389to JerusalemH4030, and presentsH3169to HezekiahH4428kingH3063of JudahH5375: so that he was magnified[H8735] H5869in the sightH1471of all nationsH310from thenceforth.

24 H3117In those daysH3169HezekiahH2470was sick[H8804] H4191to the death[H8800] H6419, and prayed[H8691] H3068unto the LORDH559: and he spake[H8799] H5414unto him, and he gave[H8804] H4159him a sign.

25 H3169But HezekiahH7725rendered not again[H8689] H1576according to the benefitH3820done unto him; for his heartH1361was lifted up[H8804] H7110: therefore there was wrathH3063upon him, and upon JudahH3389and Jerusalem.

26 H3169Notwithstanding HezekiahH3665humbled[H8735] H1363himself for the prideH3820of his heartH3427, both he and the inhabitants[H8802] H3389of JerusalemH7110, so that the wrathH3068of the LORDH935came[H8804] H3117not upon them in the daysH3169of Hezekiah.

27 H3169And HezekiahH3966had exceedingH7235much[H8687] H6239richesH3519and honourH6213: and he made[H8804] H214himself treasuriesH3701for silverH2091, and for goldH3368, and for preciousH68stonesH1314, and for spicesH4043, and for shieldsH2532, and for all manner of pleasantH3627jewels;

28 H4543StorehousesH8393also for the increaseH1715of cornH8492, and wineH3323, and oilH723; and stallsH929for all manner of beastsH220, and cotesH5739for flocks.

29 H6213Moreover he provided[H8804] H5892him citiesH4735, and possessionsH6629of flocksH1241and herdsH7230in abundanceH430: for GodH5414had given[H8804] H7399him substanceH3966veryH7227much.

30 H3169This same HezekiahH5640also stopped[H8804] H5945the upperH4161watercourseH4325 H1521of GihonH3474, and brought it straight[H8762] H4295downH4628to the west sideH5892of the cityH1732of DavidH3169. And HezekiahH6743prospered[H8686] H4639in all his works.

31 H3651HowbeitH3887in the business of the ambassadors[H8688] H8269of the princesH894of BabylonH7971, who sent[H8764] H1875unto him to enquire[H8800] H4159of the wonderH776that was done in the landH430, GodH5800left[H8804] H5254him, to try[H8763] H3045him, that he might know[H8800] H3824all that was in his heart.

32 H3499Now the restH1697of the actsH3169of HezekiahH2617, and his goodnessH3789, behold, they are written[H8803] H2377in the visionH3470of IsaiahH5030the prophetH1121, the sonH531of AmozH5612, and in the bookH4428of the kingsH3063of JudahH3478and Israel.

33 H3169And HezekiahH7901slept[H8799] H1with his fathersH6912, and they buried[H8799] H4608him in the chiefestH6913of the sepulchresH1121of the sonsH1732of DavidH3063: and all JudahH3427and the inhabitants[H8802] H3389of JerusalemH6213did him[H8804] H3519honourH4194at his deathH4519. And ManassehH1121his sonH4427reigned[H8799]  in his stead.
