³ H3129And JonathanH5221smote[H8686] H5333the garrisonH6430of the PhilistinesH1387that was in GebaH6430, and the PhilistinesH8085heard[H8799] H7586of it . And SaulH8628blew[H8804] H7782the trumpetH776throughout all the landH559, saying[H8800] H5680, Let the HebrewsH8085hear[H8799] .

⁴ H3478And all IsraelH8085heard[H8804] H559say[H8800] H7586that SaulH5221had smitten[H8689] H5333a garrisonH6430of the PhilistinesH3478, and that IsraelH887also was had in abomination[H8738] H6430with the PhilistinesH5971. And the peopleH6817were called together[H8735] H310afterH7586SaulH1537to Gilgal.

⁵ H6430And the PhilistinesH622gathered themselves together[H8738] H3898to fight[H8736] H3478with IsraelH7970, thirtyH505thousandH7393chariotsH8337, and sixH505thousandH6571horsemenH5971, and peopleH2344as the sandH3220which is on the seaH8193shoreH7230in multitudeH5927: and they came up[H8799] H2583, and pitched[H8799] H4363in MichmashH6926, eastwardH1007from Bethaven.

⁶ H376When the menH3478of IsraelH7200saw[H8804] H6887that they were in a strait[H8804] H5971, (for the peopleH5065were distressed[H8738] H5971,) then the peopleH2244did hide[H8691] H4631themselves in cavesH2337, and in thicketsH5553, and in rocksH6877, and in high placesH953, and in pits.

⁷ H5680And some of the HebrewsH5674went over[H8804] H3383JordanH776to the landH1410of GadH1568and GileadH7586. As for SaulH1537, he was yet in GilgalH5971, and all the peopleH310followedH2729him trembling[H8804] .

And SaulH559said[H8799] H7200, Because I saw[H8804] H5971that the peopleH5310were scattered[H8804] H935from me, and that thou camest[H8804] H3117not within the daysH4150appointedH6430, and that the PhilistinesH622gathered themselves together[H8737] H4363at Michmash;

¹² H559Therefore said[H8799] H6430I, The PhilistinesH3381will come down[H8799] H1537now upon me to GilgalH2470, and I have not made supplication[H8765] H6440untoH3068the LORDH662: I forced[H8691] H5927myself therefore, and offered[H8686] H5930a burnt offering.

¹³ H8050And SamuelH559said[H8799] H7586to SaulH5528, Thou hast done foolishly[H8738] H8104: thou hast not kept[H8804] H4687the commandmentH3068of the LORDH430thy GodH6680, which he commanded[H8765] H3068thee: for now would the LORDH3559have established[H8689] H4467thy kingdomH3478upon IsraelH5704forH5769ever.

¹⁴ H4467But now thy kingdomH6965shall not continue[H8799] H3068: the LORDH1245hath sought[H8765] H376him a manH3824after his own heartH3068, and the LORDH6680hath commanded[H8762] H5057him to be captainH5971over his peopleH8104, because thou hast not kept[H8804] H3068that which the LORDH6680commanded[H8765]  thee.

¹⁵ H8050And SamuelH6965arose[H8799] H5927, and gat him up[H8799] H1537from GilgalH1390unto GibeahH1144of BenjaminH7586. And SaulH6485numbered[H8799] H5971the peopleH4672that were present[H8737] H8337with him, about sixH3967hundredH376men.

¹⁶ H7586And SaulH3129, and JonathanH1121his sonH5971, and the peopleH4672that were present[H8737] H3427with them, abode[H8802] H1387in GibeahH1144of BenjaminH6430: but the PhilistinesH2583encamped[H8804] H4363in Michmash.

¹⁷ H7843And the spoilers[H8688] H3318came out[H8799] H4264of the campH6430of the PhilistinesH7969in threeH7218companiesH259: oneH7218companyH6437turned[H8799] H1870unto the wayH6084that leadeth to OphrahH776, unto the landH7777of Shual:

¹⁸ H259And anotherH7218companyH6437turned[H8799] H1870the wayH1032to BethhoronH259: and anotherH7218companyH6437turned[H8799] H1870to the wayH1366of the borderH8259that looketh[H8737] H1516to the valleyH6650of ZeboimH4057toward the wilderness.

²⁰ H3478But all the IsraelitesH3381went down[H8799] H6430to the PhilistinesH3913, to sharpen[H8800] H376every manH4282his shareH855, and his coulterH7134, and his axeH4281, and his mattock.

²¹ H6477Yet they had a fileH6310 H4281for the mattocksH855, and for the coultersH7969, and for the forksH7053 H7134, and for the axesH5324, and to sharpen[H8687] H1861the goads.

²² H3117So it came to pass in the dayH4421of battleH2719, that there was neither swordH2595nor spearH4672found[H8738] H3027in the handH5971of any of the peopleH7586that were with SaulH3129and JonathanH7586: but with SaulH3129and with JonathanH1121his sonH4672was there found[H8735] .
