Those people don’t know what they are doing. They don’t understand! It is like their eyes are covered so they can’t see. Their hearts (minds) don’t try to understand.


Then the Lord said, “Go and tell this to the people: ‘Listen closely, but don’t understand! Look closely, but don’t learn!’


“Son of man, {\cf2\super [102]} you live among rebellious people—they always turn against me. They have eyes to see \{the things I have done for them\}. But they don’t see those things. They have ears to hear \{the things I told them to do\}. But they don’t hear my commands. Why? Because they are a rebellious people.


Blind people are able to see again; crippled people are able to walk again; people that have leprosy {\cf2\super [131]} are healed; deaf people can hear again; dead people are raised from death; and the Good News {\cf2\super [132]} is told to the poor people.


Stay away from the Pharisees. {\cf2\super [208]} They lead the people, but they are like blind men leading other blind men. And if a blind man leads another blind man, then both men will fall into a hole.”


If you look at people and want to help them, you will be full of light (goodness). But if you look at people in a selfish way, you will be full of darkness (evil). And if the only light you have is really darkness, then you have the worst kind of darkness. {\cf2\super [80]}


God will help the people\par that live in darkness,\par in the fear of death.\par He will lead us in the way\par that goes toward peace.”\par


People that have the lowest place in life now will have the highest place in God’s kingdom. And people that have the highest place now will have the lowest place in God’s kingdom.”


Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, “Many Jews will fall and many will rise because of this boy. He will be a sign (proof) from God that some people will not accept.


“The Spirit of the Lord (God) has come to me.\par God chose me to tell good news to people\par that are poor.\par God sent me to tell people who are\par prisoners that they are free,\par and to tell the blind people\par that they can see again.\par God sent me to free the weak people\par from their suffering\par


At that time, Jesus healed many people of their sicknesses, diseases, and evil spirits \{from the devil\}. Jesus healed many blind people so that they could see again.


Now is the time for the world to be judged. Now the ruler of this world (the devil) will be thrown out.


I am light, and I came into this world. I came so that every person that believes in me would not stay in darkness.


God sent his Son into the world. God did not send his Son to judge the world guilty. God sent his Son so that the world could be saved through his Son.


People are judged by this fact: The Light (goodness) has come into the world. But people did not want light. They wanted darkness (sin). Why? Because they were doing evil things.


Later, Jesus talked to the people again. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. The person that follows me will never live in darkness. That person will have the light that gives life.”


You judge me the way people judge other people. I don’t judge any person.


The man answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. But I do know this: I was blind, and now I can see.”


You will show the people the Truth. The people will turn away from darkness (sin) to the light (good). They will turn away from the power of Satan, and they will turn to God. Then their sins can be forgiven. They can have a share with those people who have been made holy {\cf2\super [494]} by believing in me.’”


To the people who are being lost, we are the smell of death that brings death. But to the people who are being saved, we are the smell of life that brings life. So who is good enough to do this work?


And everything that is made easy to see can become light. This is why we say:


The Man of Evil will use every kind of evil to trick those people who are lost. Those people are lost because they refused to love the truth. (If they loved the truth, they would be saved.)


But you are chosen people. You are the King’s priests. You are a holy {\cf2\super [20]} nation of people. You are people who belong to God. God chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He called (brought) you out of darkness (sin) into his wonderful light.


But the person who hates his brother or sister is in darkness. He lives in darkness. That person does not know where he is going. Why? Because the darkness has made him blind.
