Why? Because the Lord stopped\par your punishment!\par He destroyed your enemies’ strong towers!\par King of Israel, the Lord is with you.\par You don’t need to worry\par about anything bad happening.\par
City of Zion, rejoice!\par People of Jerusalem, shout with joy!\par Look, your king is coming to you!\par He is the good king that won the victory.\par But he is humble.\par He is riding on a donkey,\par on a young donkey\par born from a work animal.\par
Jesus stood before Pilate the governor. Pilate asked him questions. He said, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
Then Pilate’s soldiers brought Jesus into the governor’s palace. All the soldiers gathered around Jesus.
They began to accuse Jesus. They told Pilate, “We caught this man trying to change the thinking of our people. He says we should not pay taxes to Caesar. {\cf2\super [369]} He calls himself the Christ, {\cf2\super [370]} a king.”
Then Nathanael said to Jesus, “Teacher, you are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel (God’s people).”
The people took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Jesus. The people shouted,
“Do not be afraid, city of Zion {\cf2\super [195]} !\par Look! Your king is coming.\par He is riding on a young donkey.”\par \i (Zechariah 9:9)\i0 \par
Jesus said, “Is that your own question, or did other people tell you about me?”
Pilate said, “What is truth?” When Pilate said this, he went out to the Jewish leaders again. Pilate said to them, “I can find nothing to charge against this man.
After this, Pilate tried to let Jesus go free. But the Jewish leaders yelled, “Any person who makes himself a king is against Caesar. {\cf2\super [240]} So if you let this man (Jesus) go free, that means you are not Caesar’s friend.”
The soldiers came to Jesus many times and said, “Hello, O king of the Jews!” They hit Jesus in the face.
Again Pilate came out and said to the Jewish leaders, “Look! I am bringing Jesus out to you. I want you to know that I find nothing I can charge against him.”
Pilate went back inside the palace. He asked Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus did not answer him.
Before God and Christ Jesus I give you a command. Christ Jesus is the One that confessed that same great truth when he stood before Pontius Pilate. {\cf2\super [33]} And God is the One that gives life to everything. Now I tell you:
