{You must do something before you die.} If you don’t, then after you are buried with your fathers, those men will say that Solomon and I are criminals.”


Rehoboam died and was buried with his ancestors. [179] He was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. [180] (His mother was Naamah. She was an Ammonite.) Rehoboam’s son, Abijah became the next king after him.


Asa died and he was buried in the City of David, [185] his ancestor. Then Jehoshaphat, Asa’s son, became the new king after him.


When Abijah died he was buried in the City of David. [182] Abijah’s son Asa became the new king after him.


Baasha died and was buried in Tirzah. His son Elah became the new king after him.


Then David died. He was buried in the City of David.


Ahab died and was buried with his ancestors. His son, Ahaziah, became the next king after him.


Ahaz {died and} was buried with his ancestors [196] in the City of David. [197] Ahaz’s son Hezekiah became the new king after him.

Manasseh {died and} was buried with his ancestors. [265] Manasseh was buried in the garden at his house. It was called, “the Garden of Uzza.” Manasseh’s son Amon became the new king after him.


Amon was buried in his grave at the Garden of Uzza. Amon’s son Josiah became the new king.


Solomon’s son was Rehoboam. Rehoboam’s son was Abijah. Abijah’s son was Asa. Asa’s son was Jehoshaphat.


Then worthless, evil men became friends with Jeroboam. Then Jeroboam and those bad men turned against Rehoboam, Solomon’s son. Rehoboam was young and did not have experience. So Rehoboam could not stop Jeroboam and his bad friends.


Jehoram was 32 years old when he became king. He ruled eight years in Jerusalem. No person was sad when Jehoram died. The people buried Jehoram in David’s city, but not in the graves where the kings are buried.


Uzziah died and was buried near his ancestors. {\cf2\super [308]} Uzziah was buried in the field near the king’s burial places. Why? Because the people said, “Uzziah has leprosy. {\cf2\super [309]} ” And Jotham became the new king in Uzziah’s place. Jotham was Uzziah’s son.


Ahaz died and was buried with his ancestors. {\cf2\super [333]} The people buried Ahaz in the city of Jerusalem. But they didn’t bury Ahaz in the same burial place where the kings of Israel were buried. Hezekiah became the new king in Ahaz’s place. Hezekiah was Ahaz’s son.


Solomon was king in Jerusalem over all Israel for 40 years.


Then Solomon rested with his ancestors. {\cf2\super [160]} The people buried him in the City of David his father. Solomon’s son Rehoboam became the new king in Solomon’s place.


Some other person will control everything I worked and studied for. And I don’t know if that person will be wise or foolish. This is also senseless.


The people of Jerusalem will bury Jehoiakim\par like they were burying a donkey.\par They will just drag his body away\par and throw it outside the gates of Jerusalem.\par


Salmon was the father of Boaz.\par (Boaz’ mother was Rahab.)\par Boaz was the father of Obed.\par (Obed’s mother was Ruth.)\par Obed was the father of Jesse.\par


Solomon was the father of Rehoboam.\par Rehoboam was the father of Abijah.\par Abijah was the father of Asa.\par


The Lord said to Moses, “You will die soon. And after you have gone to be with your ancestors, [205] these people will not continue to be faithful to me. They will break the Agreement I made with them. They will leave me and begin worshiping other gods—the false gods of the land where they are going.
