Hosea 14:5

is like the morning light when the sun rises on a cloudless morning, the glisten of rain on sprouting grass.’


The surviving remnant  of the house of Judah will again take root downwards and bear fruit upwards.


My roots will have access to water, and the dew will rest on my branches all night.


A king’s rage is like the roaring of a lion, but his favour is like dew on the grass.


My love is mine and I am his; he feeds among the lilies.


Your breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle,  that feed among the lilies.


On that day you will say: ‘I will give thanks to you, Lord, although you were angry with me. Your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me.


For the Lord said to me: I will quietly look out from my place, like shimmering heat in sunshine, like a rain cloud in harvest heat.


Your dead will live; their bodies  will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For you will be covered with the morning dew, and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.


In days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bloom and fill the whole world with fruit.


It will blossom abundantly and will also rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendour of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the  Lord, the splendour of our God.


For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit  on your descendants and my blessing on your offspring.


‘Heavens, sprinkle from above, and let the skies shower righteousness. Let the earth open up so that salvation will sprout and righteousness will spring up with it. I, the Lord, have created it.


I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,


creating words of praise.’  , The Lord says, ‘Peace, peace to the one who is far or near, and I will heal him.


Return, you faithless children. I will heal your unfaithfulness. ‘Here we are, coming to you, for you are the  Lord our God.


I will take delight in them to do what is good for them, and with all my heart and mind I will faithfully plant them in this land.


Let’s strive to know the  Lord. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.


Then the remnant of Jacob will be among many peoples like dew from the  Lord, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for anyone or linger for mankind.


Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger for ever because he delights in faithful love.


And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labour or spin thread.


‘Consider how the wildflowers grow: They don’t labour or spin thread. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon   in all his splendour was adorned like one of these.


and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love,


Let my teaching fall like rain and my word settle like dew, like gentle rain on new grass and showers on tender plants.
