Job 20 - Easy To Read Version Easy To Read Version
Job 20

Then Zophar from Naamah answered:

“Job, you have troubled thoughts.\par So I must answer you.\par I must quickly tell you what I am thinking.\par

-5 You insulted us with your answers!\par But I am wise, I know how to answer you.\par

Maybe the evil person’s pride will\par reach up to the sky,\par and his head will touch the clouds.\par

But he will be gone forever,\par like his own body waste.\par People who know him will say,\par ‘Where is he?’\par

Like a dream, he will fly away\par and no one will ever find him.\par He will be forced away and forgotten\par like a bad dream. {\cf2\super [33]} \par

The people that saw him,\par won’t see him again.\par His family will never look at him again.\par

The evil person’s children will give back\par what he took from poor people.\par The evil person’s own hands\par must give back his wealth.\par

When he was young his bones were strong,\par but, like the rest of his body,\par they soon will lie in the dirt.\par

“Evil tastes sweet\par in the bad person’s mouth.\par He keeps it under his tongue\par to enjoy it fully.\par

A bad person enjoys evil.\par He hates to let it go.\par It is like a sweet candy\par he keeps in his mouth.\par

But that evil will become poison\par in his stomach.\par It will be like bitter poison inside him,\par like a snake’s poison.\par

The evil man has swallowed riches.\par But he will vomit them out.\par God will make the evil person\par vomit them out.\par

The evil person’s drink will be\par like the poison from snakes.\par The snake’s fangs will kill him.\par

Then the evil person won’t enjoy\par seeing the rivers that flow\par with honey and cream.\par

The evil person will be forced\par to give back his profits.\par He won’t be allowed to enjoy\par the things he worked for.\par

Why? Because the evil person\par hurt poor people\par and treated them wrong.\par He didn’t care about them,\par and he took their things.\par He took houses someone else built.\par

“The evil person is never satisfied.\par His wealth can’t save him.\par

When he eats,\par there is nothing left.\par His success won’t continue.\par

While the evil person has plenty,\par he will become pressed down with trouble.\par His problems will come down on him!\par

When the evil person has eaten all he wants,\par God will throw his burning anger\par against that person.\par God will rain punishment\par down on the evil person.\par

Maybe the evil person will run away\par from an iron sword.\par But a bronze arrow will shoot him down.\par

The bronze arrow will go\par all the way through his body,\par and stick out from his back.\par Its shining point will pierce his liver,\par and he will be shocked with terror.\par

All his treasures will be destroyed.\par A fire will destroy him—\par A fire that no human started.\par The fire will destroy everything\par left in his house.\par

Heaven will prove that the evil person is guilty.\par The earth will be a witness against him.\par

Everything in his house will be\par carried away in the flood of\par God’s anger.\par

That is what God will do to evil people.\par That is what God plans to give them.”\par
