And their dead bodies[will lie] in the streetof the greatcitywhichmysticallyis calledSodomand Egypt,wherealsotheir Lordwas crucified.
Now the menof Sodomwere wickedexceedinglyand sinnersagainst the LORD.
Then the LORDrainedon Sodomand Gomorrahbrimstoneand firefrom the LORDout of heaven,
"I am the LORDyour God,whobroughtyou out of the landof Egypt,out of the houseof slavery.
The LORDsaid,"I have surelyseenthe afflictionof My peoplewhoare in Egypt,and have givenheedto their crybecauseof their taskmasters,for I am awareof their sufferings.
The expressionof their facesbearswitnessagainst them, And they displaytheir sinlike Sodom;They do not [even] conceal[it]. Woeto them! For they have broughtevilon themselves.
"Also among the prophetsof JerusalemI have seena horriblething:The committingof adulteryand walkingin falsehood;And they strengthenthe handsof evildoers,So that noonehas turnedbackfrom his wickedness.Allof them have becometo Me like Sodom,And her inhabitantslike Gomorrah.
And they broughtUriahfrom Egyptand ledhim to KingJehoiakim,who slewhim with a swordand casthis deadbodyinto the burialplaceof the commonpeople.
"Now your oldersisteris Samaria,who livesnorthof you with her daughters;and your youngersister,who livessouthof you, is Sodomwith her daughters.
"Behold,thiswas the guiltof your sisterSodom:she and her daughtershadarrogance,abundantfoodand carelessease,but she did not helpthe poorand needy.
"Yet she multipliedher harlotries,rememberingthe daysof her youth,whenshe playedthe harlotin the landof Egypt.
Thus I will make your lewdnessand your harlotry[brought] from the landof Egyptto ceasefrom you, so that you will not liftup your eyesto them or rememberEgyptanymore.'
and they playedthe harlotin Egypt.They playedthe harlotin their youth;theretheir breastswere pressedand theretheir virginbosomwas handled.
"She did not forsakeher harlotriesfrom [the time in] Egypt;for in her youthmen had lainwith her, and they handledher virginbosomand pouredout their luston her.
Then He saidto me, "Sonof man,thesebonesare the wholehouseof Israel;behold,they say,Our bonesare driedup and our hopehas perished.We are completely cutoff.'
"I overthrewyou, as GodoverthrewSodomand Gomorrah,And you were like a firebrandsnatchedfrom a blaze;Yet you have not returnedto Me," declaresthe LORD.
"TrulyI sayto you, it will be more tolerablefor [the] landof Sodomand Gomorrahin the dayof judgmentthanfor that city.
and he fellto the groundand hearda voicesayingto him, "Saul,Saul,whyare you persecutingMe?"
ThereforeJesusalso,that He might sanctifythe peoplethroughHis ownblood,sufferedoutsidethe gate.
and [then] have fallen away,it is impossibleto renewthem againto repentance,since they again crucifyto themselvesthe Sonof Godand put Him to open shame.
and [if] He condemnedthe citiesof Sodomand Gomorrahto destructionby reducing [them] to ashes,having madethem an exampleto those who wouldlive ungodly[lives] thereafter;
justas Sodomand Gomorrahand the citiesaroundthem, since they in the samewayas theseindulged in gross immoralityand wentafterstrangeflesh,are exhibitedas an examplein undergoingthe punishmentof eternalfire.
And in that hourthere was a greatearthquake,and a tenthof the cityfell;seventhousandpeoplewere killedin the earthquake,and the restwere terrifiedand gavegloryto the Godof heaven.
Those from the peoplesand tribesand tonguesand nations[will] lookat their deadbodiesfor threeand a halfdays,and will not permittheir dead bodiesto be laidin a tomb.
And the winepresswas troddenoutsidethe city,and bloodcameout from the wine press,up to the horses'bridles,for a distanceof twohundred miles.
And anotherangel,a second one,followed,saying,"Fallen,fallenis Babylonthe great,she whohas madeallthe nationsdrinkof the wineof the passionof her immorality."
The greatcitywas splitinto threeparts,and the citiesof the nationsfell.Babylonthe greatwas rememberedbeforeGod,to giveher the cupof the wineof His fiercewrath.
Thenoneof the sevenangelswho hadthe sevenbowlscameand spokewith me, saying,"Come here,I will showyou the judgmentof the greatharlotwho sitson manywaters,
"The womanwhomyou sawis the greatcity,which reignsoverthe kingsof the earth."
and on her foreheada name[was] written,a mystery,"BABYLONTHE GREAT,THE MOTHEROF HARLOTSAND OF THE ABOMINATIONSOF THE EARTH."
standingat a distancebecauseof the fearof her torment,saying,Woe,woe,the greatcity,Babylon,the strongcity!For in onehouryour judgmenthas come.'
and were cryingout as they sawthe smokeof her burning,saying,What[city] is likethe greatcity?'
And he criedout with a mightyvoice,saying,"Fallen,fallenis Babylonthe great!She has becomea dwelling placeof demonsand a prisonof everyuncleanspirit,and a prisonof everyuncleanand hatefulbird.
Thena strongangeltookup a stonelikea greatmillstoneand threwit into the sea,saying,"Sowill Babylon,the greatcity,be throwndown with violence,and will not be foundany longer.
"And in her was foundthe bloodof prophetsand of saintsand of allwho have been slainon the earth."
