"I have madea covenantwith my eyes;Howthen could I gazeat a virgin?
I hatethose whoare double-minded,But I loveYour law.
Turnawaymy eyesfrom lookingat vanity,And reviveme in Your ways.
But as for those who turnasideto their crookedways,The LORDwill leadthem away with the doersof iniquity.Peacebe upon Israel.
I hatethem with the utmosthatred;They have becomemy enemies.
They have allturnedaside,togetherthey have becomecorrupt;Thereis noonewho doesgood,not evenone.
The wordsof his mouthare wickednessand deceit;He has ceasedto be wise[and] to dogood.
I said,"I will guardmy waysThat I may not sinwith my tongue;I will guardmy mouthas with a muzzleWhilethe wickedare in my presence."
How blessedis the manwhohas madethe LORDhis trust,And has not turnedto the proud,nor to those who lapseinto falsehood.
Evenmy closefriendin whomI trusted,Who atemy bread,Has liftedup his heelagainstme.
Againand again they temptedGod,And painedthe HolyOneof Israel.
But turnedbackand actedtreacherouslylike their fathers;They turnedasidelike a treacherousbow.
Hateevil,you who lovethe LORD,Who preservesthe soulsof His godlyones;He deliversthem from the handof the wicked.
"You shall not covetyour neighbor'shouse;you shall not covetyour neighbor'swifeor his maleservantor his femaleservantor his oxor his donkeyor anythingthat belongs to your neighbor."
"They have quicklyturnedasidefrom the waywhichI commandedthem. They have madefor themselves a moltencalf,and have worshipedit and have sacrificedto it and said,Thisis your god,O Israel,whobroughtyou up from the landof Egypt!'"
A worthlessperson,a wickedman,Is the one who walkswith a perversemouth,
Who winkswith his eyes,who signalswith his feet,Who pointswith his fingers;
Do not desireher beautyin your heart,Norlet her captureyou with her eyelids.
"The fearof the LORDis to hateevil;Prideand arroganceand the evilwayAnd the pervertedmouth,I hate.
Whatthe eyesseeis betterthanwhat the souldesires.Thistoois futilityand a strivingafter wind.
"Getout of the way,turnasidefrom the path,Let us hearnomoreabout the HolyOneof Israel."
He who walksrighteouslyand speakswith sincerity,He who rejectsunjustgainAnd shakeshis handssothat they holdnobribe;He who stopshis earsfrom hearingabout bloodshedAnd shutshis eyesfrom lookingupon evil;
"But your eyesand your heartAre [intent] onlyupon your own dishonestgain,And on sheddinginnocentbloodAnd on practicingoppressionand extortion."
They covetfieldsand then seize[them], And houses,and take[them] away. They roba manand his house,A manand his inheritance.
Also let noneof you deviseevilin your heartagainst another,and do not loveperjury;for alltheseare whatI hate,'declaresthe LORD."
but I sayto you that everyonewho looksat a womanwith lustfor her has alreadycommitted adulterywith her in his heart.
[Let] love[be] without hypocrisy.Abhorwhat is evil;clingto what is good.
But nowthat you have come to knowGod,orratherto be knownby God,howis it that you turn backagainto the weakand worthlesselemental things,to whichyou desireto be enslavedall overagain?
"Nothingfrom that whichis put underthe banshall clingto your hand,in orderthat the LORDmay turnfrom His burningangerand showmercyto you, and havecompassionon you and make you increase,justas He has swornto your fathers,
"Bewarethat there is nobasethoughtin your heart,saying,The seventhyear,the yearof remission,is near,'and your eyeis hostiletoward your poorbrother,and you givehim nothing;then he may cryto the LORDagainstyou, and it will be a sinin you.
But we are not of those who shrink backto destruction,but of those who have faithto the preservingof the soul.
"Be veryfirm,then, to keepand doallthat is writtenin the bookof the lawof Moses,so that you may not turnasidefrom it to the righthandor to the left,
For it would be betterfor them not to have knownthe wayof righteousness,thanhaving knownit, to turn awayfrom the holycommandmenthandedon to them.
They wentout from us, but they were not [really] of us; for ifthey had beenof us, they would have remainedwith us; but [they went out], sothat it would be shownthat they allare not of us.
"I regretthat I have madeSaulking,for he has turnedbackfrom followingMe and has not carriedout My commands."And Samuelwas distressedand criedout to the LORDallnight.
