Be suretyfor Your servantfor good;Do not let the arrogantoppressme.
Ohthat my waysmay be establishedTo keepYour statutes!
The arroganthave forgeda lieagainstme; With all[my] heartI will observeYour precepts.
The arroganthave dugpitsfor me, [Men] whoare not in accord with Your law.
The proudhave hiddena trapfor me, and cords;They have spreada netby the wayside;They have setsnaresfor me. Selah.
Let the lyinglipsbe mute,Which speakarrogantlyagainstthe righteousWith prideand contempt.
Let not the footof pridecomeupon me, And let not the handof the wickeddriveme away.
[On account of] the sinof their mouth[and] the wordsof their lips,Let them even be caughtin their pride,And on accountof cursesand lieswhich they utter.
His mischiefwill returnupon his own head,And his violencewill descendupon his own pate.
