Grievouspunishmentis for him who forsakesthe way;He who hatesreproofwill die.
When AhabsawElijah,Ahabsaidto him, "Is thisyou, you troublerof Israel?"
Ahabsaidto Elijah,"Have you foundme, O my enemy?"And he answered,"I have found[you], becauseyou have soldyourself to doevilin the sightof the LORD.
The kingof Israelsaidto Jehoshaphat,"There is yetonemanby whom we may inquireof the LORD,but I hatehim, becausehe does not prophesygoodconcerningme, but evil.[He is] Micaiahsonof Imlah."But Jehoshaphatsaid,"Let not the kingsayso."
Becausethey turnedasidefrom followingHim, And hadnoregardfor anyof His ways;
"For you hatediscipline,And you castMy wordsbehindyou.
And you neglectedallmy counselAnd did not wantmy reproof;
"They wouldnot acceptmy counsel,They spurnedallmy reproof.
He is [on] the pathof lifewho heedsinstruction,But he who ignoresreproofgoesastray.
Whoever lovesdisciplinelovesknowledge,But he who hatesreproofis stupid.
A wiseson[accepts his] father'sdiscipline,But a scofferdoes not listento rebuke.
Sheoland Abaddon[lie open] beforethe LORD,Howmuchmorethe heartsof men!
The wayof the wickedis an abominationto the LORD,But He lovesone who pursuesrighteousness.
"They struckme, [but] I did not becomeill;They beatme, [but] I did not know[it]. Whenshall I awake?I will seekanotherdrink."
And you say,"HowI have hatedinstruction!And my heartspurnedreproof!
"Have you not donethisto yourself By your forsakingthe LORDyour GodWhenHe ledyou in the way?
"But ifyou on your partwarna wickedmanto turnfrom his wayand he does not turnfrom his way,he will diein his iniquity,but you have deliveredyour life.
"For everyonewho doesevilhatesthe Light,and does not cometo the Lightfor fearthat his deedswill be exposed.
"The worldcannothateyou, but it hatesMe becauseI testifyof it, that its deedsare evil.
