A manwill be praisedaccordingto his insight,But one of perversemindwill be despised.
So Pharaohsaidto Joseph,"SinceGodhas informedyou of allthis,thereis nooneso discerningand wiseas you are.
"His enemiesI will clothewith shame,But upon himself his crownshall shine."
I will alsolaughat your calamity;I will mockwhen your dreadcomes,
The wickedare overthrownand are nomore, But the houseof the righteouswill stand.
Betteris he who is lightlyesteemedand has a servantThanhe who honorshimself and lacksbread.
An unjustmanis abominableto the righteous,And he whois uprightin the wayis abominableto the wicked.
The wisewill inherithonor,But foolsdisplaydishonor.
He will diefor lackof instruction,And in the greatnessof his follyhe will goastray.
Whois like the wisemanand whoknowsthe interpretationof a matter?A man'swisdomillumineshim and causes his sternfaceto beam.
The LORDhas mixedwithinher a spiritof distortion;They have ledEgyptastrayin allthat it does,As a drunkenmanstaggersin his vomit.
"Manyof those whosleepin the dustof the groundwill awake,theseto everlastinglife,but the othersto disgrace[and] everlastingcontempt.
"And his masterpraisedthe unrighteousmanagerbecausehe had actedshrewdly;for the sonsof thisageare more shrewdin relationto their ownkindthanthe sonsof light.
And immediatelyan angelof the Lordstruckhim becausehe did not giveGodthe glory,and he was eaten by wormsand died.
Thereforedo not go on passing judgmentbeforethe time,[but wait] untilthe Lordcomeswhowill bothbring to lightthe things hiddenin the darknessand disclosethe motivesof [men's] hearts;and theneach man'spraisewill cometo him from God.
For it is not he who commendshimselfthat is approved,but he whomthe Lordcommends.
Samuelsaidto Saul,"You have actedfoolishly;you have not keptthe commandmentof the LORDyour God,whichHe commandedyou, for nowthe LORDwould have establishedyour kingdomoverIsraelforever.
Then oneof the youngmensaid,"Behold,I have seena sonof Jessethe Bethlehemitewho is a skillfulmusician,a mightymanof valor,a warrior,one prudentin speech,and a handsomeman;and the LORDis with him."
Then the commandersof the Philistineswentout [to battle], and it happenedas oftenas they wentout, that Davidbehavedhimself morewiselythanallthe servantsof Saul.So his namewas highlyesteemed.
"Thereforethe LORDGodof Israeldeclares,I did indeedsaythat your houseand the houseof your fathershould walkbeforeMe forever;but nowthe LORDdeclares,'Farbe it from Me-- for those who honorMe I will honor,and those who despiseMe will be lightlyesteemed.
"Nowtherefore, knowand considerwhatyou should do,for evilis plottedagainstour masterand againstallhis household;and he is such a worthlessmanthat noone can speakto him."
