As for the peoplesof the landwho bringwaresor anygrainon the sabbathdayto sell,we will not buyfrom them on the sabbathor a holyday;and we will forego[the crops] the seventhyearand the exactionof everydebt.
to fulfillthe wordof the LORDby the mouthof Jeremiah,untilthe landhad enjoyedits sabbaths.Allthe daysof its desolationit keptsabbathuntil seventyyearswere complete.
In thosedaysI alsosawthat the Jewshad marriedwomenfrom Ashdod,Ammon[and] Moab.
"Do we then hearabout you that you have committedallthisgreatevilby actingunfaithfullyagainst our Godby marryingforeignwomen?"
On the firstdayyou shall have a holyassembly,and [another] holyassemblyon the seventhday;noworkat allshall be doneon them, exceptwhatmust be eatenby everyperson,that alonemay be preparedby you.
but the seventhdayis a sabbathof the LORDyour God;[in it] you shall not doanywork,you or your sonor your daughter,your maleor your femaleservantor your cattleor your sojournerwhostays with you.
and you might takesomeof his daughtersfor your sons,and his daughtersmight playthe harlotwith their godsand cause your sons[also] to playthe harlotwith their gods.
"Is thisnot the fastwhich I choose,To loosenthe bondsof wickedness,To undothe bandsof the yoke,And to letthe oppressedgofreeAnd breakeveryyoke?
"[This] shall be a permanentstatutefor you: in the seventhmonth,on the tenthday of the month,you shall humbleyour soulsand not doanywork,whether the native,or the alienwho sojournsamongyou;
On thissamedayyou shall makea proclamationas well; you are to havea holyconvocation.You shall donolaboriouswork.It is to be a perpetualstatutein allyour dwellingplacesthroughout your generations.
For sixdaysworkmay be done,but on the seventhdaythere is a sabbathof completerest,a holyconvocation.You shall not doanywork;it is a sabbathto the LORDin allyour dwellings.
And forgiveus our debts,as we alsohave forgivenour debtors.
Thereforenooneis to act as your judgein regard to foodordrinkorin respectto a festivalora new moonora Sabbathday--
For judgment[will be] mercilessto one who has shownnomercy;mercytriumphs overjudgment.
