The scribesand the Phariseesbeganto reason,saying,"Whois this[man] whospeaksblasphemies?Whocanforgivesins,but Godalone?"
Who pardonsallyour iniquities,Who healsallyour diseases;
But there is forgivenesswith You, That You may be feared.
I acknowledgedmy sinto You, And my iniquityI did not hide;I said,"I will confessmy transgressionsto the LORD";And You forgavethe guiltof my sin.Selah.
Let them be like chaffbeforethe wind,With the angelof the LORDdriving[them] on.
"Comenow,and let us reasontogether," Saysthe LORD,"Thoughyour sinsare as scarlet,They will be as whiteas snow;Thoughthey are redlike crimson,They will be like wool.
"I, even I, am the one who wipesout your transgressionsfor My own sake,And I will not rememberyour sins.
"I have wipedout your transgressionslike a thickcloudAnd your sinslike a heavymist.Returnto Me, for I have redeemedyou."
"O Lord,hear!O Lord,forgive!O Lord,listenand takeaction!For Your own sake,O my God,do not delay,becauseYour cityand Your peopleare calledby Your name."
"To the Lordour God[belong] compassionand forgiveness,for we have rebelledagainst Him;
Moreover, the one who blasphemesthe nameof the LORDshall surelybe putto death;allthe congregationshall certainlystonehim. The alienas well as the native,when he blasphemesthe Name,shall be putto death.
He will againhavecompassionon us; He will treadour iniquitiesunderfoot.Yes, You will castalltheir sinsInto the depthsof the sea.
Thenthe high priesttorehis robesand said,"He has blasphemed!Whatfurtherneeddo we haveof witnesses?Behold,you have nowheardthe blasphemy;
And someof the scribessaidto themselves,"This[fellow] blasphemes."
"Thereforebearfruitsin keepingwith repentance,and do not beginto sayto yourselves,We haveAbrahamfor our father,'for I sayto you that from thesestonesGodis ableto raiseup childrento Abraham.
OnedayHe was teaching;and there were [some] Phariseesand teachers of the lawsitting[there], whohad comefrom everyvillageof Galileeand Judeaand [from] Jerusalem;and the powerof the Lordwas [present] for Him to perform healing.
But Jesus,awareof their reasonings,answeredand saidto them, "Whyare you reasoningin your hearts?
Thosewho were reclining[at the table] with Him beganto sayto themselves,"Whois this[man] whoevenforgivessins?"
The JewsansweredHim, "For a goodworkwe do not stoneYou, but for blasphemy;and becauseYou, beinga man,makeYourselfout [to be] God."
Whowill bring a chargeagainstGod'select?Godis the one who justifies;
