ThesethingsI rememberand I pourout my soulwithinme. For I used to goalongwith the throng[and] leadthem in processionto the houseof God,With the voiceof joyand thanksgiving,a multitudekeepingfestival.
[When] I rememberGod,then I am disturbed;[When] I sigh,then my spiritgrowsfaint.Selah.
We havebecomea reproachto our neighbors,A scoffingand derisionto those aroundus.
Your holycitieshave becomea wilderness,Zionhas becomea wilderness,Jerusalema desolation.
Our holyand beautifulhouse,Whereour fatherspraisedYou, Has beenburned[by] fire;And allour preciousthingshave becomea ruin.
"Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,Thusyou are to sayto the kingof Judah,who sentyou to Me to inquireof Me: "Behold,Pharaoh'sarmywhich has comeout for your assistanceis going to returnto its own landof Egypt.
"Now was not Israela laughingstockto you? Orwas he caughtamong thieves?For eachtimeyou speakabout him you shake[your head in scorn].
Yetour eyesfailed,[Looking] for helpwas useless;In our watchingwe have watchedFor a nationthat could not save.
and sayto the sonsof Ammon,'Hearthe wordof the LordGOD!Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Becauseyou said,Aha!'againstMy sanctuarywhenit was profaned,and againstthe landof Israelwhenit was madedesolate,and againstthe houseof Judahwhenthey wentinto exile,
For thussaysthe LordGOD,"Becauseyou have clappedyour handsand stampedyour feetand rejoicedwith allthe scornof your soulagainstthe landof Israel,
"She will pursueher lovers,but she will not overtakethem; And she will seekthem, but will not find[them]. Then she will say,I will gobackto my firsthusband,For it was betterfor me thenthannow!'
"And nowmanynationshave been assembledagainstyou Who say,'Let her be polluted,And let our eyesgloatover Zion.'
"But when he cameto his senses,he said,'How manyof my father'shired menhave more than enoughbread,but I am dyingherewith hunger!
"But Abrahamsaid,'Child,rememberthat duringyour lifeyou receivedyour good things,and likewiseLazarusbad things;but nowhe is being comfortedhere,and you are in agony.
