Then Joshuasaidto Achan,"My son,I imploreyou, givegloryto the LORD,the Godof Israel,and givepraiseto Him; and tellme nowwhatyou have done.Do not hideit from me."
He said,"Whathave they seenin your house?"So Hezekiahanswered,"They have seenallthat is in my house;there is nothingamong my treasuriesthat I have not shownthem."
Then Hezekiahspokeencouraginglyto allthe Leviteswho showedgoodinsight[in the things] of the LORD.So they atefor the appointedsevendays,sacrificingpeaceofferingsand givingthanksto the LORDGodof their fathers.
I acknowledgedmy sinto You, And my iniquityI did not hide;I said,"I will confessmy transgressionsto the LORD";And You forgavethe guiltof my sin.Selah.
For I knowmy transgressions,And my sinis everbeforeme.
He who concealshis transgressionswill not prosper,But he who confessesand forsakes[them] will findcompassion.
I will makemortalmanscarcerthanpuregoldAnd mankindthanthe goldof Ophir.
Givegloryto the LORDyour God,BeforeHe bringsdarknessAnd beforeyour feetstumbleOn the duskymountains,And while you are hopingfor lightHe makesit into deepdarkness,[And] turns[it] into gloom.
I prayedto the LORDmy Godand confessedand said,"Alas,O Lord,the greatand awesomeGod,who keepsHis covenantand lovingkindnessfor those who loveHim and keepHis commandments,
"Was noone foundwho returnedto givegloryto God,exceptthisforeigner?"
Soa second timethey calledthe manwhohad beenblind,and saidto him, "Givegloryto God;we knowthat thismanis a sinner."
for with the hearta person believes,resultingin righteousness,and with the mouthhe confesses,resultingin salvation.
with gentlenesscorrectingthosewho are in opposition,if perhapsGodmay grantthem repentanceleadingto the knowledgeof the truth,
Older menare to be temperate,dignified,sensible,soundin faith,in love,in perseverance.
for the angerof mandoes not achievethe righteousnessof God.
So AchanansweredJoshuaand said,"Truly,I have sinnedagainst the LORD,the Godof Israel,and thisis whatI did:
Menwere scorchedwith fierceheat;and they blasphemedthe nameof Godwho hasthe powerovertheseplagues,and they did not repentso as to giveHim glory.
Then Saulsaidto Jonathan,"Tellme whatyou have done."So Jonathantoldhim and said,"I indeedtasteda littlehoneywith the endof the staffthat was in my hand.HereI am, I must die!"
"So you shall makelikenessesof your tumorsand likenessesof your micethat ravagethe land,and you shall givegloryto the Godof Israel;perhapsHe will easeHis handfrom you, your gods,and your land.
