"Therefore the sonsof Israelcannotstandbeforetheir enemies;they turn[their] backsbeforetheir enemies,for they have becomeaccursed.I will not be with you anymoreunlessyou destroythe thingsunderthe banfrom your midst.
You cause us to turnbackfrom the adversary;And those who hateus have takenspoilfor themselves.
Have not You Yourself,O God,rejectedus? And will You not goforthwith our armies,O God?
The wickedfleewhen nooneis pursuing,But the righteousare boldas a lion.
But your iniquitieshave madea separationbetweenyou and your God,And your sinshave hidden[His] facefrom you sothat He does not hear.
"Now whenthispeopleorthe prophetora priestasksyou saying,'Whatis the oracleof the LORD?'then you shall sayto them, 'Whatoracle?'The LORDdeclares,I will abandonyou.'
"Be warned,O Jerusalem,OrI shall be alienatedfrom you, And makeyou a desolation,A landnot inhabited."
Thoughthey bringup their children,Yet I will bereavethem until not a manis left. Yes,woeto them indeedwhen I departfrom them!
[Your] eyesare toopureto approveevil,And You cannot lookon wickedness[with favor]. Whydo You lookwith favor On those who dealtreacherously?Why are You silentwhen the wickedswallowup Those morerighteousthanthey?
When Mosesspokethesewordsto allthe sonsof Israel,the peoplemournedgreatly.
"Do not goup, oryou will be struckdownbeforeyour enemies,for the LORDis not amongyou.
"For the Amalekitesand the Canaaniteswill be therein frontof you, and you will fallby the sword,inasmuchas you have turnedbackfrom followingthe LORD.And the LORDwill not be with you."
Then the Amalekitesand the Canaaniteswho livedin that hillcountrycamedown,and struckthem and beatthem downas faras Hormah.
"You shall not bringan abominationinto your house,and likeit comeunderthe ban;you shall utterlydetestit and you shall utterlyabhorit, for it is somethingbanned.
"But as for you, onlykeepyourselves from the thingsunderthe ban,sothat you do not covet[them] and takesomeof the thingsunderthe ban,and makethe campof Israelaccursedand bringtroubleon it.
She said,"The Philistinesare upon you, Samson!"And he awokefrom his sleepand said,"I will goout as at othertimesand shakemyself free."But he did not knowthat the LORDhad departedfrom him.
The angerof the LORDburnedagainst Israel,and He gavethem into the handsof plundererswho plunderedthem; and He soldthem into the handsof their enemiesaround[them], so that they couldnolongerstandbeforetheir enemies.
When the angelof the LORDspokethesewordsto allthe sonsof Israel,the peopleliftedup their voicesand wept.
Saulsaid,"Drawnearhere,allyou chiefsof the people,and investigateand seehowthissinhas happenedtoday.
