They cameto the sonsof Reubenand to the sonsof Gadand to the half-tribeof Manasseh,to the landof Gilead,and they spokewith them saying,
Joabsaid,"May the LORDaddto His peoplea hundredtimesas many as they are! But, my lordthe king,are they not allmy lord'sservants?Whydoes my lordseekthisthing?Whyshould he be a causeof guiltto Israel?"
So Israelhas beenin rebellionagainst the houseof Davidto thisday.
From the timethat Amaziahturnedawayfrom followingthe LORDthey conspiredagainsthim in Jerusalem,and he fledto Lachish;but they sentafterhim to Lachishand killedhim there.
They opposedUzziahthe kingand saidto him, "It is not for you, Uzziah,to burnincenseto the LORD,but for the priests,the sonsof Aaronwho are consecratedto burnincense.Getout of the sanctuary,for you have beenunfaithfuland will have nohonorfrom the LORDGod."
and saidto them, "You must not bringthe captivesin here,for you are proposing[to bring] upon us guiltagainst the LORDaddingto our sinsand our guilt;for our guiltis greatso that [His] burningangeris againstIsrael."
"O LORDGodof Israel,You are righteous,for we have been leftan escapedremnant,as [it is] thisday;behold,we are beforeYou in our guilt,for noonecan standbeforeYou becauseof this."
"For they have takensomeof their daughters[as wives] for themselves and for their sons,so that the holyracehas intermingledwith the peoplesof the lands;indeed, the handsof the princesand the rulershave beenforemostin thisunfaithfulness."
And not be like their fathers,A stubbornand rebelliousgeneration,A generationthat did not prepareits heartAnd whose spiritwas not faithfulto God.
"They have quicklyturnedasidefrom the waywhichI commandedthem. They have madefor themselves a moltencalf,and have worshipedit and have sacrificedto it and said,Thisis your god,O Israel,whobroughtyou up from the landof Egypt!'"
But they rebelledAnd grievedHis HolySpirit;Therefore He turnedHimself to become their enemy,He foughtagainst them.
If they confesstheir iniquityand the iniquityof their forefathers,in their unfaithfulnesswhichthey committedagainst Me, and alsoin their actingwith hostilityagainstMe--
"It is a guiltoffering;he was certainlyguiltybefore the LORD."
"For the Amalekitesand the Canaaniteswill be therein frontof you, and you will fallby the sword,inasmuchas you have turnedbackfrom followingthe LORD.And the LORDwill not be with you."
"For if you turnawayfrom followingHim, He will oncemoreabandonthem in the wilderness,and you will destroyallthesepeople."
"Speakto the sonsof Israel,Whena manorwomancommitsanyof the sinsof mankind,actingunfaithfullyagainst the LORD,and that personis guilty,
"Ifhe refusesto listento them, tellit to the church;and ifhe refuses to listenevento the church,let him be to you as a Gentileand a tax collector.
NowI exhortyou, brethren,by the nameof our LordJesusChrist,that you allagreeand that there be nodivisionsamongyou, but that you be made completein the samemindand in the samejudgment.
In the nameof our LordJesus,when you are assembled,and I with you in spirit,with the powerof our LordJesus,
"But ifyour heartturnsawayand you will not obey,but are drawnawayand worshipothergodsand servethem,
"For they will turnyour sonsawayfrom followingMe to serveothergods;then the angerof the LORDwill be kindledagainst you and He will quicklydestroyyou.
Seeto it that you do not refuseHim who is speaking.For ifthosedid not escapewhen they refusedhim who warned[them] on earth,muchless[will] we [escape] who turn awayfrom Him who [warns] from heaven.
When the sonsof Israelheard[of it], the wholecongregationof the sonsof Israelgatheredthemselves at Shilohto goup againstthem in war.
and with him tenchiefs,onechieffor each father'shouseholdfrom eachof the tribesof Israel;and eachoneof them [was] the headof his father'shouseholdamong the thousandsof Israel.
"Thussaysthe wholecongregationof the LORD,'Whatis thisunfaithfulactwhichyou have committedagainst the Godof Israel,turningawayfrom followingthe LORDthis day,by buildingyourselves an altar,to rebelagainst the LORDthis day?
that you must turnawaythis dayfrom followingthe LORD?If you rebelagainst the LORDtoday,He will be angrywith the wholecongregationof Israeltomorrow.
"For rebellionis as the sinof divination,And insubordinationis as iniquityand idolatry.Becauseyou have rejectedthe wordof the LORD,He has also rejectedyou from [being] king."
