And Joshuacastlotsfor them in Shilohbeforethe LORD,and thereJoshuadividedthe landto the sonsof Israelaccording to their divisions.
Thus they were dividedby lot,the oneas the other;for they were officersof the sanctuaryand officersof God,both from the descendantsof Eleazarand the descendantsof Ithamar.
Now the leadersof the peoplelivedin Jerusalem,but the restof the peoplecastlotsto bringoneout of tento livein Jerusalem,the holycity,while nine-tenths[remained] in the [other] cities.
He choosesour inheritancefor us, The gloryof JacobwhomHe loves.Selah.
For You have heardmy vows,O God;You have given[me] the inheritanceof those who fearYour name.
The [cast] lotputsan endto strifeAnd decidesbetweenthe mightyones.
"But gonowto My placewhichwas in Shiloh,whereI made My namedwellat the first,and seewhatI didto it becauseof the wickednessof My peopleIsrael.
"You shall divideit by lotfor an inheritanceamong yourselves and among the alienswho stayin your midst,whobringforthsonsin your midst.And they shall be to you as the native-bornamong the sonsof Israel;they shall be allottedan inheritancewith you amongthe tribesof Israel.
"Thisis the landwhichyou shall divideby lotto the tribesof Israelfor an inheritance,and theseare their [several] portions,"declaresthe LordGOD.
"Thereforeyou will havenoone stretchinga measuringlineFor you by lotin the assemblyof the LORD.
Then the LORDspoketo Moses,saying,
And when they had crucifiedHim, they dividedup His garmentsamongthemselves by castinglots.
evenas You gaveHim authorityover allflesh,that to allwhomYou have givenHim, He may giveeternallife.
"When He had destroyedsevennationsin the landof Canaan,He distributedtheir landas an inheritance--[all of which took] aboutfour hundredand fiftyyears.
to opentheir eyesso that they may turnfrom darknessto lightand from the dominionof Satanto God,that they may receiveforgivenessof sinsand an inheritanceamongthosewho have been sanctifiedby faithin Me.'
giving thanksto the Father,who has qualifiedus to sharein the inheritanceof the saintsin Light.
by the lotof their inheritance,as the LORDcommandedthroughMoses,for the ninetribesand the half-tribe.
Thusthe sonsof Israeldidjustas the LORDhad commandedMoses,and they dividedthe land.
Now the lotof the tribeof the sonsof Benjamincameup according to their families,and the territoryof their lotlaybetweenthe sonsof Judahand the sonsof Joseph.
"You shall describethe landin sevendivisions,and bring[the description] hereto me. I will castlotsfor you herebeforethe LORDour God.
Then the menaroseand went,and Joshuacommandedthose who wentto describethe land,saying,"Goand walkthrough the landand describeit, and returnto me; then I will castlotsfor you herebeforethe LORDin Shiloh."
So the menwentand passedthrough the land,and describedit by citiesin sevendivisionsin a book;and they cameto Joshuato the campat Shiloh.
Theseare the inheritanceswhichEleazarthe priest,and Joshuathe sonof Nun,and the headsof the householdsof the tribesof the sonsof Israeldistributedby lotin Shilohbeforethe LORDat the doorwayof the tentof meeting.So they finisheddividingthe land.
"See,I have apportionedto you thesenationswhich remainas an inheritancefor your tribes,with allthe nationswhichI have cutoff,from the Jordaneven to the GreatSeatoward the settingof the sun.
