"Ifthere is faminein the land,ifthere is pestilence,ifthere is blight[or] mildew,locust[or] grasshopper,iftheir enemybesiegesthem in the landof their cities,whateverplague,whateversickness[there is],

He spoke,and locustscame,And younglocusts,even withoutnumber,
He gavealso their cropsto the grasshopperAnd the productof their laborto the locust.
For ifyou refuseto letMy peoplego,behold,tomorrowI will bringlocustsinto your territory.
They shall coverthe surfaceof the land,so that noone will be ableto seethe land.They will also eatthe restof whathas escaped--what is leftto you from the hail--and they will eateverytreewhich sproutsfor you out of the field.
Your spoilis gathered[as] the caterpillargathers;As locustsrushingaboutmen rushabouton it.
The LORDof hostshas swornby Himself:"SurelyI will fillyou with a populationlike locusts,And they will cryout with shoutsof victory overyou."
Liftup a signalin the land,Blowa trumpetamong the nations!Consecratethe nationsagainsther, Summonagainsther the kingdomsof Ararat,Minniand Ashkenaz;Appointa marshalagainsther, Bringup the horseslike bristlylocusts.
"Then I will makeup to you for the yearsThat the swarminglocusthas eaten,The creepinglocust,the strippinglocustand the gnawinglocust,My greatarmywhichI sentamong you.
"I smoteyou with scorching[wind] and mildew;And the caterpillarwas devouringYour manygardensand vineyards,figtreesand olivetrees;Yet you have not returnedto Me," declaresthe LORD.
Thusthe LordGODshowedme, and behold,He was forminga locust-swarmwhen the springcropbeganto sprout.And behold,the springcrop[was] afterthe king'smowing.
"Then I will rebukethe devourerfor you, so that it will not destroythe fruitsof the ground;norwill your vinein the fieldcast[its grapes]," saysthe LORDof hosts.
"You shall bringout muchseedto the fieldbut you will gatherin little,for the locustwill consumeit.
"The cricketshall possessallyour treesand the produceof your ground.
