"Man,who is bornof woman,Is short-livedand fullof turmoil.
Then to AdamHe said,"Becauseyou have listenedto the voiceof your wife,and have eatenfrom the treeabout whichI commandedyou, saying,'You shall not eatfrom it'; Cursedis the groundbecauseof you; In toilyou will eatof it Allthe daysof your life.
So Jacobsaidto Pharaoh,"The yearsof my sojourningare one hundredand thirty;fewand unpleasanthave beenthe yearsof my life,norhave they attainedthe yearsthat my fatherslivedduring the daysof their sojourning."
He saidto his father,"My head,my head."And he saidto his servant,"Carryhim to his mother."
"Would He not letmy fewdaysalone?Withdrawfrom me that I may havea littlecheer
"Whatis man,that he should be pure,Or he who is bornof a woman,that he should be righteous?
"Howthen can a manbe justwith God?Or howcan he be cleanwho is bornof woman?
"Ifeventhe moonhasnobrightnessAnd the starsare not purein His sight,
For manis bornfor trouble,As sparksflyupward.
"Is not manforcedto laboron earth,And [are not] his dayslike the daysof a hiredman?
"My daysare swifterthana weaver'sshuttle,And cometo an endwithouthope.
"For we are [only] of yesterdayand knownothing,Becauseour dayson earthare as a shadow.
"Now my daysare swifterthana runner;They fleeaway,they seenogood.
"Behold,You have mademy days[as] handbreadths,And my lifetimeas nothingin Your sight;Surelyeverymanat his bestis a merebreath.Selah.
"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
Behold,I was broughtforthin iniquity,And in sinmy motherconceivedme.
Rememberwhatmy spanof lifeis; For whatvanityYou have createdallthe sonsof men!
So I hatedlife,for the workwhichhad been doneunderthe sunwas grievousto me; becauseeverythingis futilityand strivingafter wind.
Becauseallhis dayshis taskis painfuland grievous;evenat nighthis minddoes not rest.Thistoois vanity.
Whydid I evercomeforthfrom the wombTo lookon troubleand sorrow,So that my dayshave beenspentin shame?
"TrulyI sayto you, amongthose bornof womenthere has not arisen[anyone] greaterthan Johnthe Baptist!Yetthe onewho is leastin the kingdomof heavenis greaterthan he.
