"I ama joketo my friends,The one who calledon Godand He answeredhim; The just[and] blameless[man] is a joke.
"Shall your boastssilencemen?And shall you scoffand nonerebuke?
"He who is at easeholdscalamityin contempt,As preparedfor those whose feetslip.
"Beholdnow,I have preparedmy case;I knowthat I will be vindicated.
"They have gapedat me with their mouth,They have slappedme on the cheekwith contempt;They have massedthemselves againstme.
"My friendsare my scoffers;My eyeweepsto God.
"Surelymockersare with me, And my eyegazeson their provocation.
"But He has mademe a bywordof the people,And I amone at whom men spit.
"Bearwith me that I may speak;Then afterI have spoken,you may mock.
"But nowthoseyoungerthanI mockme, WhosefathersI disdainedto putwith the dogsof my flock.
"And nowI have becometheir taunt,I have even becomea bywordto them.
"Whatmanis like Job,Whodrinksup derisionlike water,
"Desistnow,let there be noinjustice;Even desist,my righteousnessis yetin it.
"I am guiltless;I do not takenoticeof myself;I despisemy life.
Like godlessjestersat a feast,They gnashedat me with their teeth.
"He will callupon Me, and I will answerhim; I will be with him in trouble;I will rescuehim and honorhim.
He who walksin his uprightnessfearsthe LORD,But he who is deviousin his waysdespisesHim.
O LORD,You have deceivedme and I was deceived;You have overcomeme and prevailed.I have becomea laughingstockalldaylong; Everyonemocksme.
Callto Me and I will answeryou, and I will tellyou greatand mightythings,which you do not know.'
But as for me, I will watchexpectantlyfor the LORD;I will waitfor the Godof my salvation.My Godwill hearme.
And after twistingtogether a crownof thorns,they putit on His head,and a reedin His right hand;and they knelt downbeforeHim and mockedHim, saying,"Hail,Kingof the Jews!"
He said,"Leave;for the girlhas not died,but is asleep."And they [began] laughingat Him.
They [began] laughingat Him. But puttingthem allout, He took alongthe child'sfatherand motherand His own companions,and entered[the room] wherethe childwas.
Nowthe Pharisees,who were lovers of money,were listeningto allthese thingsand were scoffingat Him.
Nowwhen they heardof the resurrectionof the dead,some[began] to sneer,but otherssaid,"We shall hearyou againconcerningthis."
and othersexperiencedmockingsand scourgings,yes,alsochainsand imprisonment.
