"Like the overthrowof Sodomand Gomorrahwith its neighbors,"saysthe LORD,"noonewill livethere,norwill a sonof manresidein it.
Upon the wickedHe will rainsnares;Fireand brimstoneand burningwindwill be the portionof their cup.
It will not be quenchednightor day;Its smokewill goup forever.From generationto generationit will be desolate;Nonewill passthrough it foreverand ever.
"Also among the prophetsof JerusalemI have seena horriblething:The committingof adulteryand walkingin falsehood;And they strengthenthe handsof evildoers,So that noonehas turnedbackfrom his wickedness.Allof them have becometo Me like Sodom,And her inhabitantslike Gomorrah.
"Hazorwill becomea hauntof jackals,A desolationforever;Noonewill livethere,Norwill a sonof manresidein it."
"As when GodoverthrewSodomAnd Gomorrahwith its neighbors,"declaresthe LORD,"Nomanwill livethere,Norwill [any] sonof manresidein it.
"I overthrewyou, as GodoverthrewSodomand Gomorrah,And you were like a firebrandsnatchedfrom a blaze;Yet you have not returnedto Me," declaresthe LORD.
"Therefore,as I live,"declaresthe LORDof hosts,The Godof Israel,"SurelyMoabwill be like SodomAnd the sonsof Ammonlike Gomorrah--A placepossessedby nettlesand saltpits,And a perpetualdesolation.The remnantof My peoplewill plunderthem And the remainderof My nationwill inheritthem."
And justas Isaiahforetold,"UNLESSTHE LORDOF SABAOTHHAD LEFTTO US A POSTERITY,WE WOULD HAVE BECOMELIKESODOM,AND WOULD HAVE RESEMBLEDGOMORRAH."
"Now the generationto come,your sonswhoriseup afteryou and the foreignerwhocomesfrom a distantland,when they seethe plaguesof the landand the diseaseswith whichthe LORDhas afflictedit, will say,
Allits landis brimstoneand salt,a burningwaste, unsownand unproductive,and nograssgrowsin it, like the overthrowof Sodomand Gomorrah,Admahand Zeboiim,whichthe LORDoverthrewin His angerand in His wrath.'
and [if] He condemnedthe citiesof Sodomand Gomorrahto destructionby reducing [them] to ashes,having madethem an exampleto those who wouldlive ungodly[lives] thereafter;
justas Sodomand Gomorrahand the citiesaroundthem, since they in the samewayas theseindulged in gross immoralityand wentafterstrangeflesh,are exhibitedas an examplein undergoingthe punishmentof eternalfire.
