for when Jezebeldestroyedthe prophetsof the LORD,Obadiahtooka hundredprophetsand hidthem by fiftiesin a cave,and providedthem with breadand water.)
Now [as for] the peoplewho were leftin the landof Judah,whomNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad left,he appointedGedaliahthe sonof Ahikam,the sonof Shaphanoverthem.
Then the kingcommandedHilkiah,Ahikamthe sonof Shaphan,Abdonthe sonof Micah,Shaphanthe scribe,and Asaiahthe king'sservant,saying,
[The letter was sent] by the handof Elasahthe sonof Shaphan,and Gemariahthe sonof Hilkiah,whomZedekiahkingof Judahsentto Babylonto Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon,saying,
Then Baruchreadfrom the bookthe wordsof Jeremiahin the houseof the LORDin the chamberof Gemariahthe sonof Shaphanthe scribe,in the uppercourt,at the entryof the NewGateof the LORD'Shouse,to allthe people.
Now when Micaiahthe sonof Gemariah,the sonof Shaphan,had heardallthe wordsof the LORDfrom the book,
he wentdownto the king'shouse,into the scribe'schamber.And behold,allthe officialswere sittingthere--Elishamathe scribe,and Delaiahthe sonof Shemaiah,and Elnathanthe sonof Achbor,and Gemariahthe sonof Shaphan,and Zedekiahthe sonof Hananiah,and allthe [other] officials.
Then the officialssaidto Baruch,"Go,hideyourself, you and Jeremiah,and do not let anyone knowwhereyou are."
And the kingcommandedJerahmeelthe king'sson,Seraiahthe sonof Azriel,and Shelemiahthe sonof Abdeelto seizeBaruchthe scribeand Jeremiahthe prophet,but the LORDhidthem.
they even sentand tookJeremiahout of the courtof the guardhouseand entrustedhim to Gedaliah,the sonof Ahikam,the sonof Shaphan,to takehim home.So he stayedamongthe people.
Standingin frontof them were seventyeldersof the houseof Israel,with Jaazaniahthe sonof Shaphanstandingamongthem, eachmanwith his censerin his handand the fragranceof the cloudof incenserising.
And as a greatdissensionwas developing,the commanderwas afraidPaulwould be torn to piecesby them and orderedthe troopsto go downand take him away from them by force,and bringhim into the barracks.
but the centurion,wantingto bringPaulsafely through,keptthem from their intention,and commandedthat thosewho couldswimshould jump overboardfirstand getto land,
But the earthhelpedthe woman,and the earthopenedits mouthand drankup the riverwhichthe dragonpouredout of his mouth.
