But to the wickedGodsays,"Whatright have you to tellof My statutesAnd to takeMy covenantin your mouth?
That Your belovedmay be delivered,Savewith Your righthand,and answerus!
Doingwickednessis like sportto a fool,And [so is] wisdomto a manof understanding.
The sacrificeof the wickedis an abominationto the LORD,But the prayerof the uprightis His delight.
Whodelightin doingevilAnd rejoicein the perversityof evil;
The sacrificeof the wickedis an abomination,Howmuchmorewhenhe bringsit with evilintent!
Like a madmanwho throwsFirebrands,arrowsand death,
He who turnsawayhis earfrom listeningto the law,Evenhis prayeris an abomination.
Thussaysthe LORD,"Whereis the certificateof divorceBy whichI have sentyour motheraway?Orto whomof My creditorsdid I sellyou? Behold,you were soldfor your iniquities,And for your transgressionsyour motherwas sentaway.
"I have forsakenMy house,I have abandonedMy inheritance;I have giventhe belovedof My soulInto the handof her enemies.
"As for your adulteriesand your [lustful] neighings,The lewdnessof your prostitutionOn the hillsin the field,I have seenyour abominations.Woeto you, O Jerusalem!Howlongwill you remainunclean?"
Then the LORDsaidto me, "Even thoughMosesand Samuelwere to standbeforeMe, My heartwould not be with thispeople;sendthem awayfrom My presenceand let them go!
"Goand proclaimin the earsof Jerusalem,saying,'Thussaysthe LORD,"I rememberconcerning you the devotionof your youth,The loveof your betrothals,Your followingafterMe in the wilderness,Through a landnot sown.
"For bothprophetand priestare polluted;Evenin My houseI have foundtheir wickedness,"declaresthe LORD.
Return,O faithlesssons,'declaresthe LORD;For I am a masterto you, And I will takeyou onefrom a cityand twofrom a family,And I will bringyou to Zion.'
"And I sawthat for allthe adulteriesof faithlessIsrael,I had senther awayand givenher a writof divorce,yet her treacheroussisterJudahdid not fear;but she wentand was a harlotalso.
Then the LORDsaidto me, "Goagain,lovea woman[who] is lovedby [her] husband,yet an adulteress,even as the LORDlovesthe sonsof Israel,though they turnto othergodsand loveraisincakes."
"But when the kingcamein to look overthe dinner guests,he sawa mantherewho was not dressedin weddingclothes,
SeeingJesus,he criedout and fell beforeHim, and saidin a loudvoice,"Whatbusiness do we have with each other, Jesus,Sonof the Most HighGod?I begYou, do not tormentme."
From the standpointof the gospelthey are enemiesfor your sake,but from the standpointof [God's] choicethey are belovedfor the sakeof the fathers;
does not rejoicein unrighteousness,but rejoiceswith the truth;
To the pure,all thingsare pure;but to thosewho are defiledand unbelieving,nothingis pure,but boththeir mindand their conscienceare defiled.
But as it is, you boastin your arrogance;allsuchboastingis evil.
