Behold,the Lordhas a strongand mighty[agent]; As a stormof hail,a tempestof destruction,Like a stormof mightyoverflowingwaters,He has cast[it] downto the earthwith [His] hand.
Thereforethussaysthe HolyOneof Israel,"Sinceyou have rejectedthiswordAnd have putyour trustin oppressionand guile,and have reliedon them,
Therefore,as a tongueof fireconsumesstubbleAnd drygrasscollapsesinto the flame,So their rootwill becomelike rotand their blossomblowawayas dust;For they have rejectedthe lawof the LORDof hostsAnd despisedthe wordof the HolyOneof Israel.
and sayto him, 'Takecareand be calm,havenofearand do not be faintheartedbecauseof thesetwostubsof smolderingfirebrands,on account of the fierceangerof Rezinand Aramand the sonof Remaliah.
"Let us goup against Judahand terrorizeit, and makefor ourselves a breachin its walls and setup the sonof Tabeelas kingin the midstof it,"
and the headof Ephraimis Samariaand the headof Samariais the sonof Remaliah.Ifyou will not believe,you surelyshall not last."'"
Againthe LORDspoketo me further,saying,
Does the snowof Lebanonforsakethe rockof the open country?Oris the coldflowingwater[from] a foreign[land] ever snatchedaway?
"For My peoplehave committedtwoevils:They have forsakenMe, The fountainof livingwaters,To hewfor themselves cisterns,BrokencisternsThat canholdnowater.
"But nowwhatare you doing on the roadto Egypt,To drinkthe watersof the Nile?Or whatare you doing on the roadto Assyria,To drinkthe watersof the Euphrates?
"Ordo you supposethat thoseeighteenon whomthe towerin Siloamfelland killedthem were [worse] culpritsthanallthe menwho livein Jerusalem?
