Then allhis brothersand allhis sistersand allwho had knownhim beforecameto him, and they atebreadwith him in his house;and they consoledhim and comfortedhim for allthe adversitiesthat the LORDhad broughton him. And eachonegavehim onepieceof money, and eacha ringof gold.
Reproachhas brokenmy heartand I am so sick.And I lookedfor sympathy,but therewas none,And for comforters,but I foundnone.
Then I lookedagainat allthe actsof oppressionwhichwere being doneunderthe sun.And behold[I saw] the tearsof the oppressedand [that] they hadnooneto comfort[them]; and on the sideof their oppressorswas power, but they hadnooneto comfort[them].
"Those who are mosthelplesswill eat,And the needywill liedownin security;I will destroyyour rootwith famine,And it will killoff your survivors.
ThereforeI say,"Turnyour eyesawayfrom me, Let me weepbitterly,Do not tryto comfortme concerningthe destructionof the daughterof my people."
"But thesetwothingswill comeon you suddenlyin oneday:Lossof childrenand widowhood. They will comeon you in fullmeasureIn spite of your manysorceries,In spite of the greatpowerof your spells.
"O afflictedone,storm-tossed,[and] not comforted,Behold,I will setyour stonesin antimony,And your foundationsI will layin sapphires.
"Violencewill not be heardagainin your land,Nordevastationor destructionwithin your borders; But you will callyour wallssalvation, and your gatespraise.
To proclaimthe favorableyearof the LORDAnd the dayof vengeanceof our God;To comfortallwho mourn,
They will passthrough the land hard-pressedand famished, and it will turnout that whenthey are hungry, they will be enragedand cursetheir kingand their Godas they faceupward.
They sliceoff[what is] on the righthandbut [still] are hungry,And they eat[what is] on the lefthandbut they are not satisfied;Eachof them eatsthe fleshof his own arm.
"Indeed, whowill havepityon you, O Jerusalem,Or whowill mournfor you, Or whowill turnasideto askabout your welfare?
I will sendthe sword, the famineand the pestilenceupon them untilthey are destroyedfrom the landwhichI gaveto them and their forefathers.'"
"Is it nothingto allyou who passthis way?Lookand seeifthereis anypainlike my painWhichwas severelydealtout to me, Whichthe LORDinflictedon the dayof His fierceanger.
Her uncleannesswas in her skirts; She did not considerher future. Therefore she has fallenastonishingly; She hasnocomforter."See,O LORD,my affliction,For the enemyhas magnifiedhimself!"
Panicand pitfallhave befallenus, Devastationand destruction;
"IfI were to cause wildbeaststo passthrough the landand they depopulatedit, and it becamedesolatesothat noonewould passthroughit becauseof the beasts,
For thussaysthe LordGOD,"HowmuchmorewhenI sendMy fourseverejudgmentsagainstJerusalem:sword, famine, wildbeastsand plagueto cutoffmanand beastfrom it!
And it cameabout, whenit had finishedeatingthe vegetationof the land, that I said,"LordGOD,pleasepardon!Howcan Jacobstand,For he is small?"
"And it will comeabout that allwho seeyou Will shrinkfrom you and say,'Ninevehis devastated!Whowill grievefor her?' Wherewill I seekcomfortersfor you?"
