"Ifthe Godof my father,the Godof Abraham,and the fearof Isaac,hadnot beenfor me, surelynowyou would have sentme awayempty-handed.Godhas seenmy afflictionand the toilof my hands,so He renderedjudgmentlastnight."
The LORDcamedownto seethe cityand the towerwhichthe sonsof menhad built.
The angelof the LORDsaidto her further, "Behold,you are with child,And you will beara son;And you shall callhis nameIshmael,Becausethe LORDhas givenheedto your affliction.
Then she calledthe nameof the LORDwho spoketo her, "You are a Godwhosees";for she said,"Have I evenremainedalivehereafterseeingHim?"
Then Isaactrembledviolently,and said,"Whowas he thenthat huntedgameand brought[it] to me, so that I ateof all[of it] beforeyou came,and blessedhim? Yes,and he shall be blessed."
Leahconceivedand borea sonand namedhim Reuben,for she said,"Becausethe LORDhas seenmy affliction;surelynowmy husbandwill loveme."
"He said,'Liftup nowyour eyesand see[that] allthe malegoatswhich are matingare striped,speckled,and mottled;for I have seenallthat Labanhas been doingto you.
Godcameto Labanthe Arameanin a dreamof the nightand saidto him, "Be carefulthat you do not speakto Jacobeithergoodorbad."
"It is in my powerto doyou harm,but the Godof your fatherspoketo me lastnight,saying,Be carefulnot to speakeithergoodorbadto Jacob.'
and saidto them, "I seeyour father'sattitude,that it is not [friendly] towardme as formerly,but the Godof my fatherhas beenwith me.
"The Godof Abrahamand the Godof Nahor,the Godof their father,judgebetweenus." So Jacobsworeby the fearof his fatherIsaac.
Jacobsaid,"O Godof my fatherAbrahamand Godof my fatherIsaac,O LORD,who saidto me, 'Returnto your countryand to your relatives,and I will prosperyou,'
and let us ariseand goup to Bethel,and I will makean altarthereto God,who answeredme in the dayof my distressand has beenwith me whereverI have gone."
So Israelsetout with allthat he had, and cameto Beersheba,and offeredsacrificesto the Godof his fatherIsaac.
Davidwentout to meetthem, and saidto them, "Ifyou comepeacefullyto me to helpme, my heartshall be unitedwith you; but ifto betrayme to my adversaries,since there is nowrongin my hands,may the Godof our fatherslookon [it] and decide."
I will rejoiceand be gladin Your lovingkindness,BecauseYou have seenmy affliction;You have knownthe troublesof my soul,
The LORDsaid,"I have surelyseenthe afflictionof My peoplewhoare in Egypt,and have givenheedto their crybecauseof their taskmasters,for I am awareof their sufferings.
"It is the LORDof hostswhom you should regardas holy.And He shall be your fear,And He shall be your dread.
"To You, O Godof my fathers,I givethanksand praise,For You have givenme wisdomand power;Even nowYou have madeknownto me whatwe requestedof You, For You have madeknownto us the king'smatter."
"Whenyou sethim free,you shall not sendhim awayempty-handed.
But Michaelthe archangel,whenhe disputedwith the deviland arguedaboutthe bodyof Moses,did not darepronounce againsthim a railingjudgment,but said,"The Lordrebukeyou!"
