He said,"Takenowyour son,your onlyson, whomyou love,Isaac,and goto the landof Moriah,and offerhim thereas a burntofferingon oneof the mountainsof whichI will tellyou."
But Godsaid,"No,but Sarahyour wifewill bearyou a son,and you shall callhis nameIsaac;and I will establishMy covenantwith him for an everlastingcovenantfor his descendantsafterhim.
But Godsaidto Abraham,"Do not be distressedbecauseof the ladand your maid;whateverSarahtellsyou, listento her, for throughIsaacyour descendantsshall be named.
Abrahamcalledthe nameof his sonwho was bornto him, whomSarahboreto him, Isaac.
He said,"Do not stretchout your handagainstthe lad,and donothingto him; for nowI knowthat you fearGod,since you have not withheldyour son,your onlyson, from Me."
and said,"By Myself I have sworn,declaresthe LORD,becauseyou have donethisthingand have not withheldyour son,your onlyson,
So Abrahamroseearlyin the morningand saddledhis donkey,and tooktwoof his youngmenwith him and Isaachis son;and he splitwoodfor the burntoffering,and aroseand wentto the placeof whichGodhad toldhim.
Then they cameto the placeof whichGodhad toldhim; and Abrahambuiltthe altarthereand arrangedthe wood,and boundhis sonIsaacand laidhim on the altar,on topof the wood.
Then Noahbuiltan altarto the LORD,and tookof everycleananimaland of everycleanbirdand offeredburntofferingson the altar.
Then he tookhis oldestsonwhowas to reignin his place,and offeredhim as a burntofferingon the wall.And there camegreatwrathagainstIsrael,and they departedfrom him and returnedto their own land.
Then Solomonbeganto buildthe houseof the LORDin Jerusalemon MountMoriah,where[the LORD] had appearedto his fatherDavid,at the placethat Davidhad preparedon the threshingfloorof Ornanthe Jebusite.
Does the LORDtakedelightin thousandsof rams,In tenthousandriversof oil?Shall I presentmy firstborn[for] my rebelliousacts,The fruitof my bodyfor the sinof my soul?
"For Godsolovedthe world,that He gaveHis only begottenSon,that whoeverbelievesin Him shall not perish,but haveeternallife.
But GoddemonstratesHis ownlovetowardus, in that while we were yetsinners,Christdiedfor us.
He whodid not spareHis ownSon,but deliveredHim over for us all,howwill He not alsowith Him freely giveus all things?
By faithAbraham,when he was tested,offeredup Isaac,and he who had receivedthe promiseswas offeringup his only begotten[son];
then it shall be that whatevercomesout of the doorsof my houseto meetme when I returnin peacefrom the sonsof Ammon,it shall be the LORD'S,and I will offerit up as a burntoffering."
At the endof twomonthsshe returnedto her father,who didto her according to the vowwhichhe had made;and she hadnorelationswith a man.Thus it becamea customin Israel,
