"But nowfor a briefmomentgracehas been[shown] from the LORDour God,to leaveus an escapedremnantand to giveus a pegin His holyplace,that our Godmay enlightenour eyesand grantus a littlerevivingin our bondage.
Consider[and] answerme, O LORDmy God;Enlightenmy eyes,orI will sleepthe [sleep of] death,
"He will reviveus aftertwo days;He will raiseus up on the thirdday,That we may livebeforeHim.
LORD,I have heardthe reportabout You [and] I fear.O LORD,reviveYour workin the midstof the years,In the midstof the yearsmakeit known;In wrathremembermercy.
For thussaysthe highand exaltedOne Who livesforever,whose nameis Holy,"I dwell[on] a highand holyplace, And [also] with the contriteand lowlyof spiritIn order to revivethe spiritof the lowlyAnd to revivethe heartof the contrite.
Will You not Yourselfreviveus again,That Your peoplemay rejoicein You?
He who overcomes,I will makehim a pillarin the templeof My God,and he will not goout from it anymore;and I will writeon him the nameof My God,and the nameof the cityof My God,the newJerusalem,which comes downout of heavenfrom My God,and My newname.
Isaiahcriesout concerningIsrael,"THOUGHTHE NUMBEROF THE SONSOF ISRAELBE LIKETHE SANDOF THE SEA,IT IS THE REMNANTTHAT WILL BE SAVED;
"From them will comethe cornerstone,From them the tentpeg,From them the bowof battle,From them everyruler,[all] of them together.
For [there will be] peacefor the seed:the vinewill yieldits fruit,the landwill yieldits produceand the heavenswill givetheir dew;and I will cause the remnantof thispeopleto inheritallthese[things].
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,'Ifit is toodifficultin the sightof the remnantof thispeoplein thosedays,will it alsobe toodifficultin My sight?'declaresthe LORDof hosts.
"Yet, behold,survivorswill be leftin it who will be broughtout, [both] sonsand daughters.Behold,they are going to comeforthto you and you will seetheir conductand actions;then you will be comfortedfor the calamitywhichI have broughtagainstJerusalemfor everythingwhichI have broughtupon it.
So there will be norefugeesor survivorsfor the remnantof Judahwho have enteredthe landof Egyptto residethereand then to returnto the landof Judah,to whichthey are longingto returnand live;for nonewill returnexcept[a few] refugees.'"
and saidto Jeremiahthe prophet,"Pleaselet our petitioncomebeforeyou, and prayfor us to the LORDyour God,[that is] for allthisremnant;becausewe are left[but] a fewout of many,as your own eyes[now] seeus,
To them I will givein My houseand within My wallsa memorial,And a namebetterthanthat of sonsand daughters;I will givethem an everlastingnamewhichwill not be cutoff.
Unlessthe LORDof hostsHad leftus a fewsurvivors,We would be like Sodom,We would be likeGomorrah.
The wordsof wisemenare like goads,and mastersof [these] collectionsare like well-drivennails;they are givenby oneShepherd.
ThoughI walkin the midstof trouble,You will reviveme; You will stretchforthYour handagainstthe wrathof my enemies,And Your righthandwill saveme.
They lookedto Him and were radiant,And their faceswill neverbe ashamed.
To bringbackhis soulfrom the pit,That he may be enlightenedwith the lightof life.
"Nevertheless, in Your greatcompassionYou did not makean endof them or forsakethem, For You are a graciousand compassionateGod.
"OLord,I beseechYou, may Your earbe attentiveto the prayerof Your servantand the prayerof Your servantswho delightto revereYour name,and makeYour servantsuccessfultodayand granthim compassionbeforethisman."Now I was the cupbearerto the king.
"For we are slaves;yet in our bondageour Godhas not forsakenus, but has extendedlovingkindnessto us in the sightof the kingsof Persia,to giveus revivingto raiseup the houseof our God,to restoreits ruinsand to giveus a wallin Judahand Jerusalem.
Perhapsthe LORDyour Godwill hearallthe wordsof Rabshakeh,whomhis masterthe kingof Assyriahas sentto reproachthe livingGod,and will rebukethe wordswhichthe LORDyour Godhas heard.Therefore, offera prayerfor the remnantthat is left.'"
Then Jonathansaid,"My fatherhas troubledthe land.Seenow,howmy eyeshave brightenedbecauseI tasteda littleof thishoney.
But Jonathanhad not heardwhen his fatherputthe peopleunderoath;therefore, he putout the endof the staffthat [was] in his handand dippedit in the honeycomb,and puthis handto his mouth,and his eyesbrightened.
The poormanand the oppressorhavethisin common:The LORDgiveslightto the eyesof both.
And it will be in the daywhen the LORDgivesyou restfrom your painand turmoiland harshservicein whichyou have been enslaved,
And my enemywill say,"I have overcomehim," [And] my adversarieswill rejoicewhenI am shaken.
"Yetthere will be a tenthportionin it, And it will againbe [subject] to burning,Like a terebinthor an oakWhosestumpremains whenit is felled.The holyseedis its stump."
"But I will leaveamongyou A humbleand lowlypeople,And they will takerefugein the nameof the LORD.
