Then the LORDspoketo Moses,"Godownat once,for your people,whomyou broughtup from the landof Egypt,have corrupted[themselves].
He didrightin the sightof the LORD,according to allthat his fatherUzziahhad done;howeverhe did not enterthe templeof the LORD.But the peoplecontinuedactingcorruptly.
But they deceivedHim with their mouthAnd liedto Him with their tongue.
Then the LORDsaidto him, "Godownand comeup [again], you and Aaronwith you; but do not let the priestsand the peoplebreakthroughto comeup to the LORD,orHe will breakforthupon them."
Now when the peoplesawthat Mosesdelayedto comedownfrom the mountain,the peopleassembledaboutAaronand saidto him, "Come,makeus a godwhowill gobeforeus; as for thisMoses,the manwhobroughtus up from the landof Egypt,we do not knowwhathas becomeof him."
Then Mosesentreatedthe LORDhis God,and said,"O LORD,whydoes Your angerburnagainst Your peoplewhomYou have broughtout from the landof Egyptwith greatpowerand with a mightyhand?
He took[this] from their hand,and fashionedit with a gravingtooland madeit into a moltencalf;and they said,"Thisis your god,O Israel,whobroughtyou up from the landof Egypt."
Then the LORDspoketo Moses,"Depart,goup from here,you and the peoplewhomyou have broughtup from the landof Egypt,to the landof whichI sworeto Abraham,Isaac,and Jacob,saying,To your descendantsI will giveit.'
Alas,sinfulnation,Peopleweigheddownwith iniquity,Offspringof evildoers,Sonswho actcorruptly!They have abandonedthe LORD,They have despisedthe HolyOneof Israel,They have turnedawayfrom Him.
"Seventyweekshave been decreedfor your peopleand your holycity,to finishthe transgression,to makean endof sin,to makeatonementfor iniquity,to bringin everlastingrighteousness,to sealup visionand prophecyand to anointthe mostholy[place].
They have gonedeepin depravityAs in the daysof Gibeah;He will remembertheir iniquity,He will punishtheir sins.
"For I knowthat aftermy deathyou will actcorruptlyand turnfrom the waywhichI have commandedyou; and evilwill befallyou in the latterdays,for you will dothat whichis evilin the sightof the LORD,provokingHim to angerwith the workof your hands."
"They have actedcorruptlytoward Him, [They are] not His children,because of their defect;[But are] a perverseand crookedgeneration.
sothat you do not actcorruptlyand makea gravenimagefor yourselves in the formof anyfigure,the likenessof maleorfemale,
"Then the LORDsaidto me, 'Arise,godownfrom herequickly,for your peoplewhomyou broughtout of Egypthave actedcorruptly.They have quicklyturnedasidefrom the waywhichI commandedthem; they have madea moltenimagefor themselves.'
"Even at Horebyou provokedthe LORDto wrath,and the LORDwas so angrywith you that He would have destroyedyou.
But it cameabout when the judgedied,that they would turnbackand actmorecorruptlythantheir fathers,in followingothergodsto servethem and bowdownto them; they did not abandontheir practicesor their stubbornways.
