"You shall not followthe massesin doing evil,norshall you testifyin a disputeso as to turnasideaftera multitudein order to pervert[justice];
Beforethey laydown,the menof the city,the menof Sodom,surroundedthe house,bothyoungand old,allthe peoplefrom every quarter;
Godlookedon the earth,and behold,it was corrupt;for allfleshhad corruptedtheir wayupon the earth.
Then the LORDsaidto Noah,"Enterthe ark,you and allyour household,for you [alone] I have seen[to be] righteousbeforeMe in thistime.
He said,"I have beenveryzealousfor the LORD,the Godof hosts;for the sonsof Israelhave forsakenYour covenant,torndownYour altarsand killedYour prophetswith the sword.And I aloneam left;and they seekmy life,to takeit away."
BecauseI fearedthe greatmultitude,And the contemptof familiesterrifiedme, And keptsilentand did not goout of doors?
May he judgeYour peoplewith righteousnessAnd Your afflictedwith justice.
My son,do not walkin the waywith them. Keepyour feetfrom their path,
To showpartialityto the wickedis not good,[Nor] to thrustasidethe righteousin judgment.
Do not enterthe pathof the wickedAnd do not proceedin the wayof evilmen.
Then the officialswere angryat Jeremiahand beathim, and they puthim in jailin the houseof Jonathanthe scribe,which they had madeinto the prison.
Then KingZedekiahgavecommandment,and they committedJeremiahto the courtof the guardhouseand gavehim a loafof breaddailyfrom the bakers'street,untilallthe breadin the citywas gone.So Jeremiahremainedin the courtof the guardhouse.
"My lordthe king,thesemenhave actedwickedlyin allthat they have doneto Jeremiahthe prophetwhomthey have castinto the cistern;and he will dierightwherehe is becauseof the famine,for thereis nomorebreadin the city."
Then He saidto me, "The iniquityof the houseof Israeland Judahis very,verygreat,and the landis filledwith bloodand the cityis fullof perversion;for they say,'The LORDhas forsakenthe land,and the LORDdoes not see!'
You shall donoinjusticein judgment;you shall not be partialto the poornordeferto the great,but you are to judgeyour neighborfairly.
"Is it timefor you yourselvesto dwellin your paneledhouseswhile thishouse[lies] desolate?"
Wishingto satisfythe crowd,PilatereleasedBarabbasfor them, and after having Jesusscourged,he handedHim over to be crucified.
(he had not consentedto their planand action),[a man] from Arimathea,a cityof the Jews,whowas waitingfor the kingdomof God;
But after two yearshad passed,Felixwas succeededby PorciusFestus,and wishingto dothe Jewsa favor,FelixleftPaulimprisoned.
But Festus,wishingto dothe Jewsa favor,answeredPauland said,"Are you willingto goup to Jerusalemand stand trialbeforeme on these[charges]?"
and although they knowthe ordinanceof God,that thosewho practicesuch thingsare worthyof death,they not onlydothe same,but alsogive hearty approvalto thosewho practicethem.
You shall not showpartialityin judgment;you shall hearthe smalland the greatalike. You shall not fearman,for the judgmentis God's.The casethat is toohardfor you, you shall bringto me, and I will hearit.'
"You shall not distortjustice;you shall not be partial,and you shall not takea bribe,for a bribeblindsthe eyesof the wiseand pervertsthe wordsof the righteous.
"You shall not pervertthe justicedue an alien[or] an orphan,nortakea widow'sgarmentin pledge.
"Ifit is disagreeablein your sightto servethe LORD,choosefor yourselves todaywhomyou will serve:whetherthe godswhichyour fathersservedwhichwere beyondthe River,or the godsof the Amoritesin whoselandyou are living;but as for me and my house,we will servethe LORD."
Then Saulsaidto Samuel,"I have sinned;I have indeedtransgressedthe commandof the LORDand your words,becauseI fearedthe peopleand listenedto their voice.
But Sauland the peoplesparedAgagand the bestof the sheep,the oxen,the fatlings,the lambs,and allthat was good,and were not willingto destroythem utterly;but everythingdespisedand worthless,that they utterlydestroyed.
