for that is his onlycovering;it is his cloakfor his body.Whatelse shall he sleepin? And it shall comeabout that whenhe criesout to Me, I will hear[him], for I am gracious.
When KingDavidcameto Bahurim,behold,there cameout from therea manof the familyof the houseof Saulwhose namewas Shimei,the sonof Gera;he cameout cursingcontinually as he came.
"Behold,there is with you Shimeithe sonof Gerathe Benjamite,of Bahurim;now it was he who cursedme with a violentcurseon the dayI wentto Mahanaim.But when he camedownto me at the Jordan,I sworeto him by the LORD,saying,'I will not putyou to deathwith the sword.'
"Nowtherefore, do not let him gounpunished,for you are a wiseman;and you will knowwhatyou ought to doto him, and you will bringhis grayhairdownto Sheolwith blood."
"For if you returnto the LORD,your brothersand your sons[will find] compassionbeforethose who ledthem captiveand will returnto thisland.For the LORDyour Godis graciousand compassionate,and will not turn[His] faceawayfrom you ifyou returnto Him."
Thispoormancried,and the LORDheardhim And savedhim out of allhis troubles.
For he will deliverthe needywhen he criesfor help,The afflictedalso, and him who hasnohelper.
But You, O Lord,are a Godmercifuland gracious,Slowto angerand abundantin lovingkindnessand truth.
"Ifyou afflicthim at all,[and] ifhe does cryout to Me, I will surelyhearhis cry;
Then the LORDpassedby in frontof him and proclaimed,"The LORD,the LORDGod,compassionateand gracious,slowto anger,and aboundingin lovingkindnessand truth;
Furthermore,in your bedchamberdo not cursea king,and in your sleepingroomsdo not cursea richman,for a birdof the heavenswill carrythe soundand the wingedcreature will makethe matterknown.
It will becomea signand a witnessto the LORDof hostsin the landof Egypt;for they will cryto the LORDbecauseof oppressors,and He will sendthem a Saviorand a Champion,and He will deliverthem.
"Whenyou makeyour neighbora loanof anysort,you shall not enterhis houseto takehis pledge.
